Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel visited the historic Shri Nagnath Mahadev Temple in Amreli on the eve of the 80th Independence Day celebration. The temple holds significant cultural and spiritual importance for the residents of Amreli. During the visit, CM Patel performed puja and Jalabhishek, adhering to traditional rituals and accompanied by the chanting of mantras.

In his prayers, the Chief Minister sought the blessings of Shri Nagnath Mahadev for the happiness, peace, and prosperity of the people of Gujarat as well as for the ongoing progress of the state. The temple’s trustees welcomed him warmly, presenting him with a memento to honour his visit.

CM Patel’s visit included engaging with devotees and visitors at the shrine. He greeted attendees with an affectionate chant of “Mahadev… Mahadev,” reflecting a deep connection with the faith and traditions of the local community.

Key Officials Accompany Chief Minister

Alongside Chief Minister Patel, various prominent figures were present during the temple visit. Gujarat Agriculture Minister Jitu Vaghani and Minister of State for Energy Kaushik Vekariya were in attendance, as were local public representatives, Collector Vikalp Bhardwaj, and Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kharat, along with senior officials from the district administration.

The gathering at the temple illustrated the cooperation amongst administration and local governance while highlighting the Chief Minister’s commitment to spiritual and community engagements. This alignment underscores the role of traditional institutions in the governance framework of the state.

Prior to the temple visit, CM Patel had emphasised the importance of education during a separate event on Wednesday. He stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiatives in education have laid the foundation for sustainable development in Gujarat.

Financial Assistance for Students Under Educational Schemes

During the event held at Swarnim Sankul in Gandhinagar, the Chief Minister distributed assistance via the Namo Laxmi and Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana schemes among others, focusing on supporting higher education. The initiative aims to provide financial backing to students across the state, specifically targeting those who have performed well in their board examinations.

As per the Chief Minister’s Office, over Rs. 646 crore was directly transferred to the bank accounts of more than 4,72,260 students using the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) method. This transfer exemplifies the state government’s efforts to facilitate educational access and support students in their academic journeys.

In total, under the ‘Namo Laxmi Yojana’, over 4 lakh girl students who completed the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations received more than Rs. 513 crore in financial assistance. Additionally, the ‘Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Yojana’ provided over Rs. 28 crore to more than 57,000 students from the Science stream who succeeded in the Class 12 board examinations.
