India’s Future Test Matches

India has not participated in any World Test Championship (WTC) matches as of 2026. Their previous Test series concluded in November 2025 against South Africa, during which India faced a 2-0 defeat. This record has drawn attention as the team prepares for its future engagements.

Looking ahead, India is scheduled to play a single Test match on June 6, 2026, against Afghanistan. Following this encounter, the Indian team will shift its focus towards white-ball cricket, gearing up for the 2027 ODI World Cup cycle. The contrast between formats highlights the diverse challenges that lie ahead for the Indian cricket team.

The upcoming match against Afghanistan presents an opportunity for players to showcase their skills and make a case for their selection in future fixtures. The team’s ability to adapt and perform in different formats will be critical as they navigate through this transitional phase in their cricketing calendar.
