Himalayan Construction was awarded the contract, dated January 31, 2026, for the reinforcement of the structure following previous damage.

The PWD’s investigation attributed the road damage to excessive scouring under the upstream protection wall, which compromised the integrity of the approach road. This finding has led to increasing scrutiny over contractual compliance and engineering practices in ongoing public works projects.

The highest recorded rainfall was 21.0 mm in Hatibharkala, following a period of severe downpours since early morning.
