India Rejects Pakistan’s Allegations Over Karachi Attack, Urges Action Against Terror Networks

The CSR Journal Magazine

India on Sunday firmly rejected what it described as “baseless allegations” made by Pakistan in connection with the recent attack on the Sindh Rangers headquarters in Karachi and urged Islamabad to take meaningful action against terror groups operating from its soil.

The response came after Pakistani media reports sought to link India to the incident in Karachi, where an attack on a paramilitary facility left six people dead, including three security personnel and three militants.

India Rejects Allegations, Targets Pakistan’s Terror Record

Responding to media queries, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal dismissed the allegations made by Pakistan and said New Delhi had no connection with the incident.

“We have seen Pakistani reports making baseless allegations against India regarding the recent incident in Karachi. We categorically reject them,” Jaiswal said.

He also criticised Pakistan for failing to address militancy within its own borders and urged the country to dismantle terror networks operating from its territory.

“Instead of pointing fingers at others, Pakistan would do better to look inwards, take credible action against the terror infrastructure on its territory and rid itself of its proclivity to rely on terrorism as an instrument of state policy,” Jaiswal said.

Attack Targeted Sindh Rangers Headquarters

The exchange followed an attack on the provincial headquarters of the Pakistan Sindh Rangers in Karachi’s Gulistan-i-Jauhar area on Saturday night.

According to Sindh Inspector General Javed Alam Odho, three paramilitary personnel and three militants were killed during the assault.

Odho told Dawn that the attackers rammed a vehicle into the facility’s main gate before launching the attack. Authorities were initially unable to confirm whether an explosion had also taken place.

Security forces later launched a clearance operation, with Special Security Unit commandos, Anti-Terrorist Force personnel and Rangers troops deployed to secure the area.

Police Surgeon Summaiya Syed told Dawn that an injured paramilitary trooper was taken to hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound to the leg.

Militant Group Claims Responsibility

Earlier reports said law enforcement agencies rushed to the scene after receiving information about heavy gunfire and an explosion near the Rangers headquarters.

Rescue 1122 Sindh said emergency teams were dispatched immediately after reports of an explosion near Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block 5 were received at its command and control centre.

According to Al Jazeera, an affiliate of Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, a splinter faction of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), claimed responsibility for the attack later on Saturday.

The group said nine attackers had participated in the operation, underlining the continuing security challenges faced by Pakistani authorities amid a rise in militant attacks across the country.

India’s response marks the latest exchange between New Delhi and Islamabad over security-related issues, with both sides maintaining sharply differing positions on terrorism and regional stability.
