The Indian government has condemned the drone attack on Kuwait International Airport that resulted in the death of an Indian national and injuries to several others. On June 3, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) expressed its strong disapproval of the incident, reiterating its call for the protection of civilians and civilian infrastructure in light of the ongoing conflicts in the West Asia region. The Ministry also conveyed condolences to the family of the victim and affirmed that support would be provided to those impacted.

In its official statement, the MEA remarked, “We condemn the attack on the Kuwait International Airport today in which an Indian national has died and several of our nationals are injured.” The ministry highlighted its ongoing plea for restraint, stating, “Since the onset of the conflict in West Asia, we have strongly urged that civilian population and civilian infrastructure must not be targeted.”

The MEA further noted that the Indian Embassy in Kuwait is actively assisting injured nationals. “Our Embassy is extending all possible assistance to those injured. We remain in close contact with local authorities for the welfare of Indian nationals,” the statement added.

Local and Diplomatic Responses to the Attack

The Embassy of India in Kuwait has confirmed the Indian casualty resulting from the drone strike, and it is working closely with Kuwaiti authorities to manage the situation. “The Embassy is in touch with the bereaved family and is closely coordinating with the Kuwaiti authorities to render all possible support and assistance to the bereaved family as well as those injured in the incident,” the Indian diplomatic mission stated. Additionally, Indian diplomatic missions across the region have been put on high alert to assist the Indian community effectively.

“Indian Missions and Posts across the region are on alert and continue to proactively support our community,” the MEA declared, underlining the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety of its citizens abroad.
