The Tenth BRICS Industry Ministers’ Meeting concluded successfully on August 7 in Jaipur, Rajasthan, as part of India’s BRICS Chairmanship in 2026. The event gathered Industry Ministers and senior officials from BRICS nations to discuss the enhancement of industrial capabilities, the adoption of technological transformations, and the creation of opportunities for collaborative initiatives. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry released details regarding the meeting and its objectives.

This ministerial event took place under the auspices of the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution (PartNIR), focusing on the theme of “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.” The gathering aimed to provide a platform for member countries to align their industrial goals and explore cooperative ventures.

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, welcomed participants by highlighting Jaipur’s unique blend of traditional craftsmanship and modern industrial aspirations. He stressed that in a fast-evolving landscape, practical innovation and cooperation should be priorities for BRICS states.

Key Achievements and Discussions

During the meeting, significant progress achieved under India’s BRICS Chairmanship was shared, including advancements through PartNIR. Goyal mentioned outcomes from the Advisory Group’s deliberations along with thematic Working Groups, which were formed around four priority areas set forth by India. Concrete steps were reported, such as the finalisation of the Framework for Cooperation in the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Working Group and an Action Plan on innovation-led growth through Startups.

Further emphasis was placed on creating resilient transport and logistics systems to support industrial activities, involving initiatives like GIS-based Infrastructure Planning. The meeting also adopted a Joint Declaration that encapsulated the collective commitment of member countries to translate discussions into actionable cooperation mechanisms that enhance industrial development.

Ministers and Delegations from each BRICS country outlined their national viewpoints, showcasing key policy measures and achievements aimed at boosting industrial growth. The shared commitment to advancing digital transformation and cooperation to tackle common challenges was clearly evident throughout the discussions.

Future Initiatives and Cultural Engagements

The meeting highlighted India’s ongoing initiatives, including the forthcoming 16th BRICS Trade Ministers’ Meeting scheduled for August 7, 2026, in Jaipur. This will follow earlier discussions held in New Delhi on August 3 and 4, 2026, during the Third Meeting of the BRICS Contact Group on Economic and Trade Issues (CGETI). At these events, Trade Ministers and senior officials will evaluate pivotal topics related to international trade and economic collaboration.

The overarching theme of resilience, innovation, and sustainability guided these discussions, targeting enhancements in the multilateral trading system and participation of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in global trade. Engagements during the Trade Ministers’ sessions will feature cultural excursions, such as visits to the City Palace and Hawa Mahal, showcasing India’s rich heritage.

As India continues its Chairmanship, the BRICS Trade Ministers’ Meeting is positioned as a key milestone, reinforcing the nation’s dedication to a transparent and equitable multilateral trading framework anchored by the World Trade Organisation (WTO). Discussions aim to facilitate resilient supply chains and stronger MSME involvement, contributing to India’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 through enhanced economic cooperation among emerging economies.
