A man from Haryana has garnered attention online after detailing his inspiring journey from being a Zomato delivery rider to securing a place at the Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) at the University of Delhi. Girish Sharma shared his experiences in a thoughtful LinkedIn post titled “From a Zomato Delivery Rider to FMS Delhi,” in which he highlighted years of challenges and the eventual academic breakthrough he achieved.

Sharma recounted his past struggles, stating that six years prior he had lost his ambitions in the face of daily survival. Prior to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, he worked as a delivery rider while also taking on teaching positions and other small tasks. The pandemic served as a critical turning point in his life, allowing him to take a step back and reevaluate his future aspirations.

During this time of reflection, Sharma realised that the current path he was on was not fulfilling. He gradually reignited his passion for business and made the decision to pursue an MBA from one of the top business schools in India, despite initially lacking clear knowledge about the entrance exam and interview processes.

Challenges Faced During Admissions

After enduring several attempts, Sharma ultimately achieved a competitive score in the CAT 2023 examination, leading to interview invitations from various institutions. However, he faced disappointments as many offered him waitlist positions or rejections. He did receive an initial admission offer, but it did not meet his expectations.

Unfazed by these setbacks, Sharma resolved to continue his pursuit of an MBA. He later announced his acceptance into the prestigious Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi, a prominent institution known for its rigorous academic standards. This achievement highlights his resilience and commitment to personal growth.

Sharma expressed his gratitude to those who supported him throughout this challenging journey. He credited mentors and educators from coaching centres, as well as guidance from interview mentors, for helping him build the confidence needed to succeed. He acknowledged that a supportive network, including friends and colleagues, played a significant role in his accomplishments.
