Google Set to Launch Pixel 11 Series on August 12

The CSR Journal Magazine

Google is preparing for the launch of its latest flagship devices, the Pixel 11 series, on August 12. The company confirmed the details of the new line last week and has since shared a teaser video on its online store. This video highlights a new feature called Pixel Glow, which includes a circular LED light displaying a range of colours associated with Google. This feature is speculated to function as a notification light, showing different colours for various applications, although further specifics will be revealed during the launch event.

On launch day, the Pixel 11 family will also be available for pre-order. Users can expect to see four devices: the standard Pixel 11, the Pixel 11 Pro, the Pixel 11 Pro XL, and the Pixel 11 Pro Fold. The anticipated launch aims to showcase advancements and Innovations in Google’s flagship models.

Design and Colour Variations

Speculation surrounding the colour options for the Pixel 11 series has surfaced online. The Pixel 11 Pro Fold is expected to arrive in colours such as Pine—a soft green variant—and midnight, while the Pixel 11 Pro will be offered in Dune, Light Fog, Pine, and Sterling. In terms of design aesthetics, Google appears to maintain a horizontally aligned camera layout for its regular smartphone models, although the Pro Fold is said to feature a redesigned camera island. These changes could provide a more streamlined look compared to previous iterations.

The updated camera housing for the Pixel 11 Pro Fold features a narrower profile, with the camera cutouts moving closer to the module’s outer edges. The main and ultrawide sensors have been relocated to the bottom of the housing, while the telephoto camera remains positioned in the top right. Additionally, the autofocus sensor’s location has been altered, and the LED flash has been enlarged compared to its predecessor.

Specifications and Technological Advancements

The Pixel 11 series is expected to retain familiar OLED screen dimensions: 6.3 inches for both the Pixel 11 and Pro models, 6.8 inches for the Pro XL, and a dual-screen setup measuring 6.4 inches and 8.0 inches for the Pro Fold. However, major upgrades are anticipated beneath the display, with reports indicating that all models will be powered by Google’s Tensor G6 processor. This 7-core chip is manufactured using TSMC’s advanced 2nm process, marking a significant increase in efficiency compared to the previous Tensor G5, which was built on a 3nm framework.

Furthermore, Google is reportedly moving away from its previous reliance on Samsung cellular modems. Instead, the new devices will utilise MediaTek’s M90 modem, suggesting a broader shift in the company’s hardware strategy. The Pixel 11 series is also expected to ship with the latest version of the Android operating system, known as Android 17, further enhancing its technological capabilities.
