Union Minister Giriraj Singh has publicly denounced Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi for his critique of the government’s foreign policy on August 14, 2026. Singh accused Gandhi of being uninformed about diplomatic issues and of disparaging India during his overseas travels. This exchange follows Gandhi’s statements made at the Rachnatmak Congress National Convention, where he expressed concerns about the Modi administration’s approach to international relations.

According to Gandhi, the government’s responsibility is to prioritise national interests rather than rely on superficial friendships and gestures of warmth with other leaders. He specifically mentioned that the emphasis should be on protecting the nation’s interests, rather than public displays of camaraderie.

In his remarks, Singh described Gandhi’s conduct as “disgraceful” and suggested that it stemmed from deep-seated frustration. He referenced Gandhi’s family background, noting that his grandfather, grandmother, and father all held the position of Prime Minister. Singh questioned how Gandhi could fail to grasp the intricacies of foreign policy, given his lineage.

Singh further stated that Gandhi’s interpretation of foreign policy revolves around meeting figures like George Soros while allegedly insulting India. He urged the media to examine Gandhi’s actions over the past 12 years during his foreign trips, asserting that they predominantly featured derogatory comments about the country.

Additionally, Singh expressed dissatisfaction with Gandhi’s lack of decorum, particularly in relation to his interactions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He referenced an incident wherein Gandhi’s behaviour in the Lok Sabha was characterised as unwarranted and juvenile. According to Singh, Gandhi’s demeanour suggests a need for reform in character and respect.

Concerns Over Respect and Behaviour

Singh articulated that the nation witnessed Gandhi’s actions in the Lok Sabha, labelling them as clownish. He proposed that Gandhi might consider joining a theatre troupe due to what he described as a deteriorating mental state. Singh’s comments delved deeper into the issue of respect, emphasising both personal conduct and familial heritage.

Moreover, Singh raised questions about Gandhi’s understanding of cultural values, suggesting that he should show respect not just to the Prime Minister of India but also to his maternal homeland of Italy. He implicitly characterised Gandhi as lacking essential values, or ‘Sanskars’, which would typically dictate respectful conduct towards leaders.

Singh concluded by stressing the importance of diplomacy and respect in international relations. He asserted that Gandhi’s behaviour not only reflected poorly on him but also undermined India’s reputation abroad.
