Four individuals lost their lives, and three others sustained injuries when an SUV they were travelling in veered off a road and fell into a gorge in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district. The tragic event occurred on Thursday between 4 pm and 5 pm, as per officials’ reports. The vehicle reportedly plunged into a nearby river after the driver lost control.

The vehicle was carrying a total of seven passengers at the time of the mishap. Among those involved, a woman and a child escaped with their lives, reportedly being ejected from the vehicle just before it fell. The circumstances of their miraculous survival are still under review.

Rescue operations commenced promptly following the accident, with local police and district administration teams arriving at the scene. Local residents also assisted in the efforts to recover those affected by the crash. Officials indicated that the bodies of the four deceased individuals have since been recovered from the site.
