The Delhi Police has recognised 16 student innovators for their contributions in developing technology-based solutions aimed at addressing practical policing challenges. This recognition took place as part of the Summer Internship Programme 2026, where Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar presented certificates of appreciation along with souvenirs to the deserving students during a ceremony held at the Police Headquarters.

The two-month internship programme commenced on June 8 and aimed to foster collaboration between students and academic institutions with the police force. The initiative enabled young innovators to tackle real-world challenges faced by the department, enhancing their practical skills in the process.

The programme attracted significant interest, receiving over 400 applications from students enrolled in various universities and technical institutions, indicating a strong desire among youths to engage with policing and technology.

Student Participation and Selection Process

Among the selected participants were 16 students from reputable institutions including IIT Delhi, Delhi Technological University (DTU), Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), Jamia Hamdard, and Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Technology. Following a thorough selection process, these students were chosen for their innovative potential and commitment to addressing the challenges faced by the police.

Throughout the internship, the students worked closely under the mentorship of officers from the Delhi Police Tech and Project Implementation Division. This collaboration provided the interns with valuable insights into the specific requirements of policing, enabling them to apply their technical expertise to relevant challenges experienced by the department.

During their time in the programme, the students successfully developed four functional technology solutions focused on enhancing administrative processes, streamlining internal operations, and improving citizen services. These projects were designed not only to address immediate issues but also to support the police department’s ongoing digital transformation initiatives.

The Delhi Police acknowledged the students’ commitment and technical proficiency during the felicitation ceremony, emphasising the significance of their contributions. The programme was categorised as an initiative to empower young minds by harnessing technology while simultaneously fostering a smarter and more citizen-centric approach to policing.
