The Congress party has officially announced its preparations for the forthcoming Punjab Assembly elections by detailing appointments for various election-related committees. This announcement underscores the party’s strategic focus as it gears up for the polls in 2027.

Former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi has been appointed as the chairperson of the campaign committee, a crucial role that entails strategising and executing election campaigns effectively. The party also introduced several co-chairpersons to assist in this endeavour.

Notable among the co-chairpersons are MLAs Sukhpal Singh Khaira, Rana Gurjeet Singh, and Patiala MP Dharamvira Gandhi. Their involvement is expected to enhance the committee’s capabilities and coordination as the elections draw nearer.

Key Appointments Within the Party Structure

In further organisational developments, former Punjab minister Vijay Inder Singla will lead the election management and coordination panel. This committee is anticipated to play a pivotal role in ensuring smooth operations during the election process. Furthermore, senior party leader Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa has been appointed to helm the core committee.

Dr Amar Singh has been chosen to head the manifesto committee, which is responsible for outlining the party’s goals and policies in the lead-up to the elections. These appointments are part of the Congress’s strategy to strengthen its organisational structure ahead of the campaign.

To expand leadership representation, the party has appointed ex-MLAs Sukhwinder Singh Danny, Raj Kumar Verka, and Sangat Singh Gilzian as working presidents within the Punjab Congress. These changes reflect a commitment to inclusivity and broadened leadership engagement.
