Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has expressed his support for Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat’s recent remarks concerning Generation Z and Generation Alpha. Fadnavis stated that Bhagwat’s comments aim to benefit the entire nation rather than being targeted at a specific political party or organisation. During a press conference, he underscored the importance of Bhagwat’s message for both the ruling party and the Opposition.

Fadnavis remarked, “What the RSS Sarsanghchalak says is not just for one party, one group, or one organisation. He speaks for our country.” He highlighted that the insights provided by Bhagwat should be taken into account by all political factions, indicating that the message is significant for national interest.

Encouraging both sides of the political spectrum to consider Bhagwat’s remarks, Fadnavis added, “If the Opposition has liked it, I congratulate them.” This statement reflects a call for collaborative dialogue around youth issues based on Bhagwat’s comments.

Bhagwat’s Interaction with Young Generations

During his engagement with young individuals in Mumbai, Bhagwat emphasised that the current youth are more inclined to challenge authority and seek logical reasoning behind various issues. He also called for viewing student protests as a legitimate form of expression, noting that their grievances are genuine and should not be dismissed as “anti-national.” This marks a significant shift in discourse surrounding youth-led demonstrations.

Bhagwat articulated that addressing the concerns raised by protesters is essential, stating, “When we were at the age of Gen Z, the nature of our generation was such that we would accept what the elders said. Now Gen Z and Gen Alpha ask questions; they want logical answers.” His comments highlight a generational shift toward greater inquiry and accountability.

In his remarks, he further described the new generation as possessing a sense of honesty that he perceives to be lacking in older generations. Bhagwat suggested that appeals to patriotism and service would resonate with the youth, indicating a desire for greater engagement with the collective goals of the nation.

Political Reactions to Bhagwat’s Comments

Various political figures have reacted positively to Bhagwat’s remarks. BJP MP Mayank Nayak expressed optimism about Generation Z’s potential to contribute to India’s developmental goals. He stated, “Mohan Bhagwat held an interaction with Gen Z where he said that this generation has the strength to change the country.” Nayak believes that this demographic will play a crucial role in achieving the vision of a developed India.

BJP MP Madan Rathore echoed similar sentiments, stating that Bhagwat’s comments were aimed at acknowledging the capabilities of the youth rather than condemning them. He distinguished between the new generation and those engaging in detrimental behaviours, asserting that Bhagwat’s message is supportive of the responsible youth of the nation.

Responding to these developments, RJD MP Misa Bharti acknowledged Bhagwat’s insights while questioning the government’s approach to handling student protests and calling for broader discussions on matters such as reservation policies. She urged for a dialogue that encompasses the complexities of the issues faced by today’s youth.
