Abhijeet Dipke Allegedly Assaulted During Jaipur Protest Over Examination Leaks

The CSR Journal Magazine

Abhijeet Dipke, the founder of the Cockroach Janta Party, was reportedly attacked during a protest in Jaipur on Monday. Witnesses stated that as he was being carried on the shoulders of his supporters, some individuals in the crowd allegedly slapped him. This occurred at Shaheed Smarak, which drew a significant number of youth protesting against issues including the alleged NEET examination leak and rising unemployment.

Following the incident, local police detained two young men suspected of being involved, and an investigation is currently ongoing. Supporters of Dipke reacted by apprehending the alleged attackers and assaulting them before law enforcement stepped in to restore order.

In response to the attack, Dipke labelled it as an act of cowardice. He took to social media to express his views, stating that physical aggression reflects fear and affirmed the commitment to continue raising their voices in a peaceful manner.

The Nature of the Protest

Demonstrators at the protest were vocal about their demands, carrying placards that called for accountability and action concerning corruption and examination leaks. Many of the slogans demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, emphasising the dissatisfaction with procedures surrounding major examinations including NEET, CBSE, CUET, and SSC.

The Cockroach Janta Party characterised the protest as a peaceful constitutional movement aimed at drawing attention to vital issues affecting students and job candidates. The campaign has gained momentum on social media platforms, engaging a wider audience of students and civil society activists across India.

Dipke arrived in Jaipur late on Sunday to make arrangements for the protest. Although local authorities initially denied permission for the demonstration, they later issued conditional approval with limitations, restricting the number of participants to a maximum of 800 at any given time. Authorities also implemented strict security measures to manage the event and maintain public order.

Wider Support and Future Protests

The protest initiative has garnered backing from notable activists such as Sonam Wangchuk, who has publicly supported the movement. He has indicated plans for a six-week hunger strike if Dipke is arrested. In a recent announcement on social media, the Cockroach Janta Party shared that permission had been granted by Delhi Police for a separate protest at Jantar Mantar, framing it as part of a larger effort aimed at seeking accountability within the education sector.

Additionally, the Cockroach Janta Party has plans for a demonstration in Nagpur scheduled for 16 June. In a video message released on social media, Dipke encouraged residents of Nagpur, especially students and youth, to gather at Samvidhan Square at 4 pm for what is intended to be a peaceful protest.

The situation in Jaipur remains a focal point after the alleged assault and the subsequent detention of two individuals, underlining the ongoing tensions surrounding educational issues in the country.
