Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami recently honoured exceptional students from the High School and Intermediate Board examinations during the Pratibha Samman Samaroh held in Roorkee. This event was organised by Vidya Bharati Akhil Bharatiya Shikshan Sansthan Uttarakhand. Dhami expressed his pride in recognising talented individuals for the third consecutive year. He emphasised that the achievements of these students reflect the significant impact of dedication, discipline, and strong ethical values in reaching educational goals.

During his address, the Chief Minister congratulated the awardees, stating that such recognition would enhance their confidence and motivate them to excel in future academic pursuits and life endeavours. He highlighted the role of Vidya Bharati in creating an educational foundation rooted in Sanatan culture, patriotism, and Indian values, which is evident across the nation.

Growth of Educational Institutions in Uttarakhand

Dhami remarked on the evolution of the Saraswati Shishu Mandir movement, originally founded in Gorakhpur in 1952, into a comprehensive educational network. He pointed out that Vidya Bharati currently serves approximately 4.5 million students nationally, with around 1.25 lakh students enrolled in its 562 schools located in Uttarakhand. The Chief Minister acknowledged the relentless efforts and contributions of the organisation’s educators, volunteers, and staff in fostering this growth.

In his speech, Dhami also detailed various initiatives undertaken by the state to enhance the education system. He noted that Uttarakhand is the first state in the country to implement the National Education Policy (NEP), which aims to modernise and make the learning experience more relevant to employment opportunities.

Among the government’s initiatives, he mentioned the introduction of smart classrooms, the distribution of free textbooks, shoes, and school bags. Moreover, he outlined the Chief Minister’s Meritorious Student Incentive Scheme and programmes like Bharat Darshan, model colleges, IT laboratories, and hostel facilities within government schools. Furthermore, the ‘Kaushalam’ scheme is being implemented to foster skill development, national knowledge traditions, and entrepreneurial spirit among students.

State Government’s Commitment to Student Welfare

The Chief Minister reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to nurturing the future of young individuals by enforcing the strictest anti-copying law in the country, which has reportedly brought positive outcomes. Over the last five years, more than 34,000 youths have successfully attained government jobs through a transparent recruitment process facilitated by the state.

He further announced that candidates succeeding in written examinations for competitive exams such as the UPSC, NDA, and CDS receive financial aid of Rs 50,000 to assist with their preparation. Dhami encouraged students to engage in nation-building activities, asserting that they embody both the current and future potential of India.

In closing, the Chief Minister expressed his belief in the capability of today’s youth to contribute to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a Developed India and restore the country to its esteemed position as a global leader. During the ceremony, he also inaugurated the Anand Swaroop Arya Saraswati Vidya Mandir Shishu Vatika, marking another step in the effort to enhance educational facilities in the state.
