Actor Bhumi Pednekar has actively called for assistance for those impacted by severe flooding in Assam, emphasising the urgent need for support following the disaster. Speaking out on the crisis, the 37-year-old actor stated, “There have been a lot of bad floods in Assam. The situation is so bad that 7.5 lakh people have been evacuated. More than 40 people have died, and the death toll is increasing.” Her words underline the critical circumstances facing many families in the region.

Pednekar urged the public to come together in solidarity, reminiscing about the collective support shown during last year’s floods in Punjab. She expressed hope that similar efforts would emerge for Assam, encouraging unity in response to the ongoing disaster.

The actor elaborated on the essential supplies required by those affected, stating, “Assam needs a lot of supplies. Food, mattresses, sanitation, and evacuation. As of the latest bulletin from the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), over 5.24 lakh individuals remain affected across five districts, illustrating the widespread impact of the floods.

Reports indicate that the number of affected individuals has decreased from approximately 6.55 lakh across six districts reported the previous day. However, the situation remains precarious as the death toll continues to rise. Tragically, two more individuals have drowned in the floodwaters within the last 24 hours, bringing the total fatalities related to flooding in Assam this year to 68.
