The Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) in Kandla, Gujarat has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing its own record for cargo handling in a single day. According to an official announcement, on Sunday, July 27, 2026, the port handled an impressive total of 7,83,816 metric tonnes (MT) of cargo. This achievement marks an improvement over the previous national record of 7,78,570 MT, which was set on June 17, 2023.

This record-breaking performance is attributed to the combined efforts of the port authority and its stakeholders, demonstrating effective coordination and operational efficiency. The achievement reinforces DPA’s position in the logistics and port management sector as a leader in India.

Details of the Recent Cargo Handling

The volume of cargo handled on July 27 was inclusive of various categories of goods transported through the port. Notably, on June 17, when the earlier record was established, the cargo included 2,55,557 MT of crude oil, 40,534 MT of petroleum, oil, and lubricants (POL), and 2,13,010 MT of liquid petroleum oil (LPO). The different segments of the cargo operations highlight the port’s versatility in managing diverse goods.

In addition to DPA’s commendable achievement, the Offshore Oil Terminal in Vadinar also set a new benchmark by handling 5,09,101 MT of liquid cargo within a 24-hour period. This figure surpassed its previous record of 5,07,397 MT, demonstrating the terminal’s operational capabilities and efficiency in managing liquid cargo.

The consistently high performance of DPA and its terminals signifies a growing trend in cargo handling efficiency, underlining the port’s significant role in national logistics and trade.
