The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of making unfounded allegations against the Punjab government amid widespread student protests related to the NEET paper leak. During a press conference on Thursday, Baltej Pannu, the AAP Punjab media in-charge, asserted that these opposition parties were attempting to divert attention from the legitimate concerns of students by targeting the government led by Bhagwant Mann.

Pannu emphasised that under the Mann administration, no news of recruitment examination paper leaks in Punjab had surfaced. He referred to a recent incident in Faridkot, clarifying that it was not a case of paper leakage but rather an occurrence where a candidate reportedly employed electronic devices to cheat. He stated that law enforcement officials had acted appropriately by apprehending the candidate during the incident.

According to Pannu, the Congress party was intentionally misrepresenting the situation as a paper leak to create confusion among the public. He urged the Congress to address the paper leak incidents that allegedly transpired during its governance rather than merely shifting blame to the current administration.

Serious Allegations Against the BJP Government

Pannu did not hold back in his criticism of the BJP-led central government, claiming that over ninety instances of examination paper leaks had occurred while they were in power. He expressed concern that these incidents had far-reaching consequences on the future of millions of students across India. He claimed that some students had tragically taken their own lives as a result of this distress, adding that the central government had failed to take timely measures against those culpable for these offences.

In light of the current protests, he stated that students nationwide were demanding justice; however, instead of addressing these grievances, the BJP was allegedly attempting to divert responsibility onto the opposition parties. Pannu accused both the BJP and Congress of fabricating allegations against the Punjab government in a bid to obscure the real issues faced by students.

Reiterating AAP’s position, Pannu confirmed that the party remains resolutely in support of the students and is committed to raising their concerns at every possible opportunity. This statement of solidarity came in response to the growing agitation among students regarding the NEET paper leak issue, which has become a focal point of discourse in recent weeks.
