The CSR Journal Magazine

A tragic incident occurred in New Ashok Nagar, Delhi, on August 14, when a 12-year-old girl was killed after a Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus collided with the scooter she was riding. The girl, identified as Kayna Pal, was on her way to school accompanied by her younger brother. Eyewitnesses reported that anger erupted in the vicinity following the accident, resulting in damage to the DTC bus.

Kayna’s father, Aman Pal, confirmed her identity and provided details about the circumstances leading up to the accident. The family was travelling to East Point School when the bus allegedly collided with their scooter. This incident has drawn significant attention, prompting local authorities to investigate the matter further.

Community Reaction and Aftermath

The accident sparked an immediate response from the community, with locals expressing their outrage and frustration over the incident. Eyewitness footage captured the chaotic scene, as members of the public reportedly vandalised the bus involved in the collision. This reaction underscores the growing concern regarding road safety measures in the area.

Local police have stated that they are conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. They are expected to interview witnesses and collect additional evidence to ascertain the exact details of what transpired during the accident. This investigation will seek to clarify not only the events leading to the collision but also the responsibilities of the bus driver.

In light of the rising number of accidents involving heavy vehicles in urban areas, this incident highlights the urgent need for improved safety regulations and enforcement measures to protect vulnerable road users, particularly children travelling to and from school.

Separate Incident Involving Young Man

On July 25, a separate road incident took place in the Vasant Kunj area of Delhi, resulting in the death of a 20-year-old man named Yashvendra. According to the Delhi Police, Yashvendra was driving a car with a female companion when the vehicle reportedly skidded on a slippery road surface. The car lost control near the Nangal Dewat red light, subsequently falling into a drain and overturning.

Police received a call about the accident and responded promptly to the scene, where they discovered that Yashvendra had sustained serious injuries. He was transported to a nearby medical facility but later succumbed to his injuries. The vehicle belonged to the female passenger, who was identified as a resident of Vasant Kunj and had been accompanying Yashvendra after they had spent the night at a friend’s house.

The investigation into this incident has revealed that shortly before the accident, Yashvendra and his co-passenger were making their way to her residence. Both individuals were pursuing higher education in the United States, where they had developed a friendship. Yashvendra was the son of an Indian Army officer, while the female passenger’s father worked in cyber security and her mother was a homemaker.
