608 Students Evacuated From Hostel Amid Ghost Rumours

The CSR Journal Magazine

A large-scale incident involving mass hysteria has reportedly occurred at a government-run hostel in Amravati district, Maharashtra. The situation was triggered by allegations of ghostly activity, which led to heightened anxiety among students and resulted in the evacuation of hundreds of residents from the facility.

The concerns began when several female students claimed to have experienced strange auditory phenomena within the hostel, describing sounds such as the jingling of anklets, as well as laughter and crying. As news of these experiences spread, panic ensued among the student body.

Parents of the affected students shared their apprehensions, noting that approximately 608 students, including 263 boys and 345 girls, chose to leave their hostel accommodations and return home in response to the alleged supernatural occurrences.

School Management’s Response

Sanjay Chaudhary, the headmaster of the institution, addressed the growing concerns by stating that the complaints had prompted the school management to take immediate action. The girls who reported symptoms were taken for psychiatric evaluation to ensure their well-being.

According to Chaudhary, the psychiatrist’s assessment indicated that the symptoms observed among the students could potentially be linked to severe hysteria. Following the evaluation, the school has initiated a counselling process aimed at reassuring the students and alleviating their fears.

As a part of the management’s efforts to restore calm, students are receiving guidance and support from professionals. The administration emphasised the importance of creating a safe environment for learning amidst the crisis.

Psychiatric Intervention and Community Support

Local Health Officer Abhishek Naidu has urged both students and their families not to associate the incident with any form of ghostly presence or supernatural explanations. He clarified that the issues at hand appear to be grounded in mental health concerns rather than any external influences.

Naidu reassured the public, stating that there is no cause for alarm and advised against the spread of unfounded rumours that could exacerbate the situation. He underscored the importance of staying informed and calm during such distressing times.

The Maharashtra Andhashraddha Nirmoolan Samiti, a voluntary organisation with a focus on combating superstitions and irrational beliefs, has also engaged in efforts to counsel the students. This initiative aims to provide psychological support and challenge any misconceptions regarding supernatural occurrences.

The community’s response to this incident reflects a collective effort to prioritise the mental well-being of the students while ensuring that their educational journey remains unaffected by the situation. The school administration continues to implement measures intended to mitigate fears and encourage rational understanding of mental health challenges.
