Perni Venkatramaiah, also known as Nani, who serves as the YSRCP Krishna District President, has accused Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and his son Nara Lokesh of conspiring to undermine the successful Vijaya Dairy. He claims that their ultimate goal is to facilitate the growth of Heritage Dairy’s operations throughout coastal Andhra Pradesh.

In a recent press conference, Nani raised serious questions regarding the government’s purported interference in the management of Vijaya Dairy. He stated that this cooperative operates under the provisions of the MACS Act, meaning it is not under government control. Instead, the dairy is structured as a cooperative system, where elected representatives from the farming community manage its affairs, he emphasised.

Nani alleged that some ministers reportedly compelled the resignation of Vijaya Dairy’s Chairman, Chalasani Anjaneyulu, under dubious circumstances. His claims suggest a direct intrusion into an organisation that should function independently of governmental oversight.

According to Nani, the actions taken against Anjaneyulu were particularly aggressive. He disclosed that, shortly after Anjaneyulu had been elected, Ministers Parthasarathy and Kollu Ravindra were allegedly acting on Nara Lokesh’s orders when they issued threats of imprisonment against Anjaneyulu and his family. This allegedly included threats towards his daughter and son, who resides in the United States.

Nani went further to assert that the immense pressure placed on Anjaneyulu led to severe health complications, including a heart attack that necessitated his admission to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). He claimed that even at the hospital, ministers entered the facility and coerced Anjaneyulu into submitting his resignation, which raises serious ethical and legal concerns about their conduct.

The former minister’s statements have amplified the gravity of the allegations, indicating that there is a concerted effort to manipulate the cooperative for external interests. Nani’s remarks have elicited significant attention from both the media and the public.

Implications for the Dairy’s Future and YSRCP’s Stance

Nani further commented on the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led government, asserting that it has maintained a hands-off approach regarding dairy operations over its five years in power. He pointed out that the present government has refrained from meddling in the cooperative’s affairs, contrasting this with the actions of the opposition, which he describes as harmful to farmers.

In light of these accusations, Nani cautioned against the potential for Vijaya Dairy to accumulate debt, ostensibly to benefit Heritage Dairy. He suggested that any individuals acting on Nara Lokesh’s behest to dismantle the farmers’ cooperative could be subject to legal consequences, particularly if the current administration remains in power after the upcoming elections.
