Minister Deepika Pandey Singh remarked on August 10 that the Jharkhand government acknowledges the democratic right to protest, particularly amid ongoing demonstrations by JPSC and JSSC aspirants in Ranchi. She assured that the administration is committed to upholding law and order during this period. Singh clarified that there would be no use of force, such as pellet guns, tear gas, or lathi-charges, in handling the protests.

Speaking to reporters, the minister expressed her support for peaceful demonstrations while emphasising the importance of operating within a constitutional framework. She reiterated that people have the freedom to protest, and the authorities will take necessary actions to maintain public order during these demonstrations.

Communication Efforts Between Government and Protesters

In response to claims regarding a communication gap between the government and the protesting students, Minister Singh stated that dialogue has been ongoing for several days. She highlighted that discussions have taken place for hours over the past four days, and the government has endeavoured to address concerns within its capacity.

Singh specifically mentioned that the state has made agreements on various points raised by the students, although she acknowledged that the main demand for the complete cancellation of the CGL (Combined Graduate Level) exam presents complexities due to existing legal guidelines. She urged the students to recognise the boundaries within which the government must function.

As an important detail, Singh pointed out that the insistence on cancelling the CGL exam involves judicial directives, which the government cannot overlook. The minister emphasised that while they have agreed to many demands, the legal implications surrounding the exam’s cancellation are significant and require careful consideration.

Government’s Commitment to Transparency and Educational Reform

Minister Singh reiterated the government’s dedication to transparency, revealing ongoing efforts to investigate any financial irregularities associated with the examination processes. She mentioned that the state government remains open to conducting probes under judicial supervision and has invited federal agencies, including the Enforcement Directorate (ED), to participate in these investigations.

In her statement, she affirmed the commitment to ensuring that any allegations of financial misappropriation are thoroughly examined. The minister highlighted that maintaining transparency throughout this process is crucial to building trust with the protesting students and the public.

Additionally, the government is planning significant reforms in the educational sector. Singh disclosed that they aim to form a committee composed of experts from esteemed institutions, including IIM, IIT, XLRI, and ISM, to oversee and guide these reforms. She mentioned that proposals for these changes have also been shared with the students to involve them in the conversation about improving the examination system.
