Yogi Adityanath Participates In ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ March In Gorakhpur

The CSR Journal Magazine

Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, participated in a Tiranga Yatra in Gorakhpur on August 10. The event was held as part of the broader ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, which aims to engage citizens in displaying the national flag in the lead-up to Independence Day. The march commenced from the Municipal Corporation premises at Town Hall and progressed towards the Maharana Pratap statue on Railway Station Road. A sense of patriotic zeal was palpable among the participants, who carried the national flag with pride.

National Campaign Seeks Public Participation

The ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ initiative, originally launched in 2022 under the larger Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav framework, has transformed into a national movement encouraging individuals to host or display the national flag at their homes. This year’s observance is scheduled from August 9 to August 17, during which a variety of flag-related activities and the ‘Selfie with Tiranga’ initiative are being promoted. The Ministry of Culture serves as the nodal ministry overseeing the campaign, linking it with the celebrations of the 150th anniversary of the National Song, Vande Mataram.

In Gorakhpur, the Tiranga Yatra is part of a wider series of events occurring across the nation in anticipation of Independence Day. The campaign emphasises fostering a personal connection with the Tricolour among citizens, aiming to nurture a sense of unity and communal pride.

In addition to Gorakhpur, similar events have been noted in other states. For instance, the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav, recently initiated the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign in Bhopal by leading a Tiranga Yatra, riding a motorcycle while displaying the national flag. In Imphal, Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh joined a local Tiranga Yatra, promoting solidarity among various communities.

Community Involvement and Skill Development Initiatives

The patriotic marches have attracted participation not only from political leaders but also from various community members. In Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir, rural women from an SBI Rural Self Employment Training Institute have been involved in creating handmade national flags and Tricolour-themed crafts. This initiative connects expressions of patriotism with skill development and livelihood opportunities.

According to the Ministry of Culture, the campaign’s reach has significantly increased since its inception. The 2025 edition recorded approximately 7.50 crore selfies showcasing participants with the national flag, while over 9 lakh volunteers engaged in various outreach programmes throughout India. The 2026 campaign continues to position itself as a grassroots movement, involving government departments, educational institutions, and community organisations in rallies, cultural events, and activities centred on the national flag.

The participation of Yogi Adityanath in the Tiranga Yatra not only adds a political dimension but also highlights the role of public leadership in national celebrations. As the march traversed important areas in Gorakhpur, it reinforced the campaign’s focus on patriotism, civic engagement, and respect for the flag. With Independence Day approaching, similar events are anticipated across different states, underscoring the ongoing commitment to celebrating national unity and pride.
