A 25-year-old woman was discovered dead under suspicious circumstances in her residence located in the Sarojininagar area of Lucknow. According to the police, the victim was found hanging inside her locked room on Friday afternoon. The incident was reported to law enforcement officials, who promptly responded to the scene.

The victim has been named as Nishu Rajput, who was married to Pawan Rajput, commonly referred to as Golu. Married in 2019, the couple shared two daughters and resided in Piparsad village. During police inquiries, it was noted that Pawan Rajput was not present at home when the incident occurred.

Upon his return, Pawan allegedly found the room locked and, despite attempting to gain entry and receive a response, he saw Nishu hanging from a ceiling fan through a window. He immediately contacted the authorities, prompting a police team to arrive at the location, where they forcibly opened the door and discovered that she had already passed away.

Family Claims Dowry-Related Foul Play

Nishu’s family has made serious allegations against her in-laws, asserting that she was a victim of continuous harassment relating to dowry demands. Her brother, Ankit Rajput, alleged that the family had demanded a sum of Rs 5 lakh as part of the dowry, leading to escalating tensions within the marital household.

Ankit further claims that Nishu was murdered by her husband and in-laws, who then staged her death to resemble a suicide. Allegedly, he received a phone call from Pawan around 2 PM on Friday, informing him that Nishu had taken her own life. However, upon arriving at the Sarojininagar Community Health Centre, he was informed that she was already deceased.

The police have since taken custody of Nishu’s body and initiated a post-mortem examination to ascertain the precise cause of death. Officials have confirmed that the findings from the post-mortem report will play a crucial role in the ongoing investigation.

Police Investigation Underway

Authorities are conducting a comprehensive inquiry into the case. The focus is on various aspects, including the allegations of dowry harassment and the claims of murder made by Nishu’s family. Both the circumstances leading to her death and the possibility of suicide are being scrutinised thoroughly.

As part of the investigation, the police are gathering statements from witnesses and reviewing any evidence that may aid in determining the events leading up to Nishu’s demise. The process includes examining the family dynamics and possible motives for the alleged crime.
