The CSR Journal Magazine

The Royal siblings of Jaipur, Princess Gauravi Kumari and Sawai Padmanabh Singh made grand appearances in the Met Gala wearing outfits that reflected the Rajasthani heritage. The duo’s unexpected appearance in no time became viral, increasing the curiosity of netizens to know about the young royals.

Who is Princess Gauravi Kumari?

She is the daughter of current Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan Diya Kumari. Gauravi comes from an illustrious lineage of Rajmata Gayatri Devi, who is still remembered for her timeless beauty. Gauravi in past had spoken about strong women of her family, including her grandmother Rajmata Padmini Devi and her mother. Gauravi studied at Mayo College Girls’ School, and later she went for higher education from New York University. She is famous for her elegance and minimal makeup style, and the same style she carried to the Met Gala as well.

For the Gala, she wore a gown that was crafted using her grandmother Gayatri Devi’s pink chiffon sari. And she paired the outfit with pearls and traditional uncut diamonds from Jaipur. About the outfit, she said, she ensured that her grandmother’s sari was not just inspiration, but part of the outfit.

Who is Sawai Padmanabh Singh?

Popularly known as Pacho, Padmanabh is the head of the royal family of Jaipur. He is taking forward the legacy and like his grandfather, he is an ace polo player and has various accolades to his name. Not just Polo, Padmanabh and sister Gauravi are involved in philanthropy, especially the focus is on women artisans. They have been giving scholarships, conducting digital literacy programs, and giving academic support to underprivileged girls.

For the Met Gala he too like sister Gauravi blended tradition with modern fashion. He made a powerful statement by wearing a velvet “Phulghar coat,” designed by Prabal Gurung. This piece has been designed intricately featuring traditional aari and zardozi embroidery, which requires at least 600 hours of craftsmanship.

Padmanabh shared that his look showcases Rajasthani craftsmanship in an authentic and expressive manner.
