Welcome To The Jungle Opens At Rs 29 Crore Worldwide, Beats Akshay Kumar’s Recent Releases

Akshay Kumar-starrer Welcome To The Jungle has opened to a solid start at the box office, collecting Rs 29 crore worldwide on its first day despite receiving mixed reviews from critics and audiences.

The comedy entertainer, directed by Ahmed Khan, outperformed the opening-day collections of Kumar’s recent releases, including Bhooth Bangla and Jolly LLB 3, providing the actor with one of his stronger starts in recent times.

Strong Worldwide And Domestic Opening

According to early box office figures, Welcome To The Jungle earned a worldwide gross collection of Rs 29 crore on its opening day.

Of this, overseas markets contributed Rs 6.50 crore, while the film’s India gross collection stood at Rs 22.50 crore.

At the domestic box office, the third instalment of the Welcome franchise collected Rs 15 crore nett across 10,892 shows on its first day.

The film’s India nett total currently stands at Rs 18.75 crore.

Surpasses Akshay Kumar’s Recent Releases

The opening performance places Welcome To The Jungle ahead of Kumar’s previous releases.

Priyadarshan’s Bhooth Bangla had earned Rs 12.25 crore nett on its first day from 12,386 shows. Including premiere collections of Rs 3.75 crore, the film’s opening total stood at Rs 16 crore.

Before that, Jolly LLB 3 had opened with a first-day collection of Rs 12.50 crore.

Industry observers will now closely watch whether Welcome To The Jungle can maintain momentum through the weekend and convert its opening into a strong extended run.

Third Chapter In Popular Comedy Franchise

Welcome To The Jungle marks the third instalment in the Welcome franchise, following the success of 2007’s Welcome and 2015’s Welcome Back.

The film blends comedy and action while bringing together a large ensemble cast led by Akshay Kumar in a double role.

Directed by Ahmed Khan and written by Neeraj Vora, the film has been produced by Firoz Nadiadwala, Rakesh Dang and Vedant Vikaas Baali under the banners of Base Industries Group, Cape of Good Films and Seeta Films.

Ensemble Cast Drives Franchise Appeal

Alongside Akshay Kumar, the film features a large cast including Suniel Shetty, Disha Patani, Jacqueline Fernandez, Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, Arshad Warsi, Paresh Rawal, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, Aftab Shivdasani and Jackie Shroff.

With a strong opening day behind it, the film’s immediate focus will be on sustaining audience interest over the weekend and capitalising on the popularity of the long-running comedy franchise.
