Vivo X Fold 6 Launches with 200MP Camera and 7,000mAh Battery, Details Here

The CSR Journal Magazine

Vivo has officially unveiled the X Fold 6 in China, marking its entry into the foldable smartphone segment with a notable offering. This latest flagship device aims to make a significant impact in the market, targeting established competitors such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Oppo Find N6. The X Fold 6 features an upgraded design, advanced camera capabilities, and a robust battery.

Specifications and Features of the Device

The Vivo X Fold 6 features an 8.02-inch folding OLED display, which supports a peak brightness of 5,000 nits, utilising Samsung’s M14 luminescent material. The cover screen is protected by enhanced nanocrystal glass, and the hinge comes with a durability rating of 600,000 folds, according to the manufacturer. The phone has an IP58 rating for dust and water resistance, surpassing the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s IP43 rating, although it falls short of the higher IP68 rating seen in some other models.

At the heart of the X Fold 6 is the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super Edition chipset. Vivo claims that this customised version of the processor has been optimised specifically for foldable devices, enhancing multitasking capabilities and supporting efficient multi-window rendering. The internal specifications aim to provide a seamless user experience.

Camera technology is a prominent feature of the X Fold 6, which includes a 200-megapixel main camera utilising a Samsung Isocell HPB sensor. Additionally, the device incorporates a 50-megapixel ultrawide lens and a 50-megapixel 3x telephoto camera. Notably, the phone also supports an external camera lens, specifically a second-generation 200mm telephoto extender, which allows for native 8.3x shots and lossless 17x captures. Video recording capabilities extend to 4K at 60 frames per second, featuring Dolby Vision support as well.

Battery and Software Enhancements

Equipped with a 7,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, the X Fold 6 boasts one of the largest batteries found in a foldable smartphone to date. While wireless charging capability is included, Vivo has yet to disclose the charging speed. The substantial battery capacity reflects a growing trend in the smartphone industry towards longer-lasting power solutions.

From a software perspective, Vivo has improved its Origin Workbench multitasking feature, which first appeared in the X Fold 5. This updated version allows users to run five applications simultaneously in separate windows. The new functionalities include additional split-view layout options and the ability to save layout configurations for quick access. Furthermore, the phone features an AI-enhanced file manager that incorporates intelligent file renaming and smart suggestions for meetings.

The Vivo X Fold 6 is available at a starting price of 7,999 yuan, approximately Rs 1,10,966, for the base model featuring 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The higher-end configuration with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage is priced at 10,999 yuan, equating to roughly Rs 1,52,584. Additionally, a special Black Gold edition in the 16GB and 1TB version is offered at 11,299 yuan, or around Rs 1,56,768.

Availability and Launch Details

Currently, the Vivo X Fold 6 has made its debut exclusively in China, and no official information regarding a global launch has been released. The phone is available in four colour options: Blue Hole, Salt Lake, Polar Night, and Black Gold, with the Black Gold variant being exclusive to the top-tier model.

As the smartphone market evolves, Vivo’s latest offering appears poised to challenge existing competitors with its innovative features and specifications, although international consumers will await confirmation of its availability outside China.
