Vishal Tiwari Achieves NEET UG Success After Personal Struggles

The CSR Journal Magazine

The recent NEET UG 2026 results brought significant news for 23-year-old Vishal Tiwari from Gorakhpur, who not only qualified but also celebrated his achievement with great enthusiasm. Scoring 605 out of 720, Vishal attributed his success to four years of dedicated preparation, amidst a backdrop of financial instability faced by his family. His father, Santosh Tiwari, drives an auto-rickshaw, while his mother, Radhika Tiwari, manages the household. The family reportedly had to borrow funds to afford coaching after initial attempts yielded no success.

Vishal, a resident of Mirzapur Pachpedwa Colony, completed his schooling at Saraswati Vidya Mandir, passing Class 12 with Biology in 2022. Initially unable to join coaching classes due to financial constraints, he resorted to self-study for the first two years. After failing to clear the exam in those early attempts, his parents took loans to enrol him in a coaching institute, providing him with structured guidance for future attempts.

“It’s been a dream realised over four years,” Vishal expressed. “I often questioned whether I would succeed, but my family’s unwavering faith in me kept me motivated,” he added, highlighting the support he received during his journey.

Balancing Family Life and Studies

Unlike many aspiring candidates, Vishal’s path included early marriage and fatherhood. Shortly after completing his schooling, his family arranged for him to marry Kalpana Pandey from Siddharthnagar district. Two years into their marriage, they welcomed their son, Virat. Despite these additional responsibilities, Vishal remained focused on preparing for the NEET exam.

“He and my son provided significant support throughout my preparations. My wife never voiced any complaints about my study hours and took on the majority of household responsibilities,” Vishal noted, emphasising the vital role his wife played in his journey.

With financial demands growing, Vishal contributed to his household by offering home tutoring services. His daily routine would begin with morning coaching classes, followed by tuition sessions in the evenings. After completing his teaching responsibilities, he often studied at a library until late at night, ensuring that household expenses were managed while continuing his preparations.

Recognising Family Sacrifices

Vishal credits his parents, particularly his father, for their immense sacrifices throughout his educational journey. Santosh Tiwari persevered in his auto-rickshaw driving to support the family, often at the cost of his own needs. “My parents took loans so I could join coaching. My father worked tirelessly for our future. I aim to repay their sacrifices by becoming a doctor,” Vishal stated.

Reflecting on the family’s situation, Santosh expressed optimism about education and its potential to change their lives. “Despite facing financial struggles, we never considered allowing our son to abandon his aspirations. Seeing him succeed has made all our efforts worthwhile,” he mentioned, showcasing their collective resolve in the face of adversity.

Interestingly, Vishal initially aspired to pursue engineering due to his interest in mathematics. It was only after encouragement from an elder uncle that he redirected his focus towards Biology, leading him to prepare for medical entrance examinations. Qualifying for NEET marks a significant milestone in his journey, yet his ambitions extend beyond merely wearing a white coat.

“A promise I hold dear is to one day buy my father a car, he has devoted his life to supporting our family as an auto driver,” Vishal shared, highlighting his aspirations as a continuation of their shared journey. His experience underscores the often unseen struggles and sacrifices of families behind educational achievements, characterised by resilience and dedication.
