The ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ bike rally was inaugurated by Vice President CP Radhakrishnan on August 12, 2026, in New Delhi. This initiative is a part of the countrywide campaign leading up to Independence Day, aiming to encourage citizens to display the national flag with pride. The event saw participation from several MPs affiliated with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and numerous supporters proudly carrying the Tricolour.

The rally commenced from Bharat Mandapam and is set to conclude at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium. Radhakrishnan’s address highlighted the unity and collective sentiment embodied in various activities associated with the campaign, emphasising that despite the diverse forms of expression, the underlying message of national belonging remains consistent.

He pointed out that activities such as Tiranga yatras, bike rallies, and cultural programmes are essential, yet he urged attendees to carry the essence of the campaign beyond the rally itself, stating, “Journey doesn’t end when the rally does.” This calls for a sustained commitment to the ideals of the campaign within homes and communities.

Call for Continued Participation

During his speech, Radhakrishnan urged citizens to reaffirm their commitment to the nation by actively engaging in the campaign. He stated that everyone should inspire others to hoist the national flag, reinforcing the idea that the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign should transcend events and become an integral part of daily life.

Radhakrishnan also made a poignant reference to the significance of the national flag, acknowledging its heritage. He paid tribute to Pingali Venkayya, the creator of the Indian flag, and remembered Hansa Mehta, who was instrumental in presenting the first national flag of India at the time of independence.

The Vice President highlighted that the ultimate objective of the rally is to instil lasting national pride and encourage communal participation. This notion resonated throughout the event, as the flag symbolises unity among diverse segments of the population.

Messages from Political Leaders

The rally garnered support from numerous politicians, including BJP MP Tarun Chugh. He stated that the event showcased the enthusiasm of young individuals and their dedication to contributing to the vision of a developed India. Chugh reiterated that the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is pivotal for realising this developmental resolve.

Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai underscored the emotional connection that citizens have with the national flag, declaring, “The Tiranga is our pride, and it is more precious to us than our life.” This sentiment mirrors the broader feelings of unity and belonging that the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign seeks to amplify.

BJP MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri emphasised the large turnout of MPs participating in the Tiranga Yatra, attributing it to Prime Minister Modi’s call for unity and engagement. He noted that the Vice President is inaugurating the rally, symbolising a national effort towards celebrating independence.

The Har Ghar Tiranga campaign is being implemented nationwide, encouraging citizens, public representatives, and organisations to showcase the national flag.
