Uttarakhand Ready for Char Dham Yatra as Registrations Cross 1.7 Million

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Uttarakhand government has announced that it has finalised all arrangements for the upcoming Char Dham Yatra, which is set to begin on April 23. The announcement came as a result of extensive inspections and review meetings held by state officials, who reported unprecedented interest from devotees globally. Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj stated that the number of registrations for the pilgrimage has reached nearly 1.8 million, reflecting the site’s popularity among pilgrims.

Minister Maharaj provided detailed statistics regarding the registrations for the various pilgrimage sites, stating that Yamunotri has attracted 370,295 registrations, Gangotri 316,006, Kedarnath 619,959, Badrinath 527,227, and Hemkund Sahib 17,171, bringing the total to 1,787,658 pilgrims. These figures underscore the significant draw of the Char Dham, referred to as the “Abode of the Gods.”

Addressing logistical issues, the Minister reassured pilgrims that vital services such as cooking gas and food supplies have been arranged for the duration of the Yatra. He expressed confidence in the preparations, stating, “There is significant enthusiasm among people. Concerns about availability of gas for cooking and food have been addressed, assuring that all facilities, including gas and food services, will be available throughout the Yatra.”

Chief Minister Conducts Site Inspections

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has been actively involved in overseeing the completion of arrangements for the Char Dham Yatra. On April 16, he personally inspected the Kedarnath Highway and other key transit points to assess the quality of infrastructure and facilities for travellers. “I am conducting an on-site inspection to ensure that all preparations are complete. We are ready in every respect to welcome pilgrims and devotees arriving here from across the entire country and the world,” he stated.

During this inspection, CM Dhami emphasised that all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure the Yatra proceeds smoothly. He expressed confidence that the arrangements would be excellent and that the pilgrimage would be successful, welcoming both national and international visitors.

Alongside infrastructure readiness, the state government has taken a comprehensive approach to Yatra management, including discussions focused on safety and security. Earlier in the week, CM Dhami chaired a review meeting in Nainital that aimed to enhance security presence in narrow mountain passes and implement safety measures for pilgrims travelling through routes adjacent to forests.

Invitation Extended to Devotees Worldwide

As the portals of the shrines are set to open in less than a week, the Uttarakhand government has formally invited devotees to embark on the Char Dham Yatra. Officials have reassured the public that a seamless journey awaits all who participate, promising a spiritually enriching experience in the heart of the Himalayas.

In preparation for the Yatra, the state has committed to ensuring smooth traffic flow and the availability of emergency medical services to cater to any unforeseen situations. Such measures are aimed at providing pilgrims with a secure and convenient experience as they undertake this sacred journey.

The preparations and extensive planning indicate the state’s dedication to facilitating a successful pilgrimage, not only to uphold tradition but also to enhance the experience for the millions of devotees expected to participate this year.
