The Char Dham Yatra is currently proceeding without significant disruptions due to the ongoing monsoon season, maintaining high enthusiasm among pilgrims. This increase in activity coincides with the commencement of the second phase of the pilgrimage, during which devotees are travelling from various parts of India to the revered high-altitude shrines of Kedarnath and Badrinath.

As of now, over 30 lakh devotees have visited both Kedarnath and Badrinath Dham. The Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) Chairman, Hemant Diwedi, confirmed this number, giving insights into the continuous flow of visitors to these sacred sites.

According to Diwedi, out of the total devotees, 16,12,112 have paid their respects at Kedarnath, while 14,50,116 have reached Badrinath Dham. He noted that despite the challenges posed by seasonal rains, the movement of pilgrims to both shrines remains consistent and unhindered.

Safety Measures in Place for Pilgrims

In light of the ongoing rainy season, the BKTC has ensured that arrangements for pilgrims remain robust. Diwedi stated that measures have been taken to guarantee the safety and smooth transit of visitors, even as the region contends with the impacts of the monsoon.

Additionally, the Uttarakhand government is actively monitoring the pilgrimage’s response to weather patterns. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a virtual meeting with District Magistrates to discuss various critical matters, including the management of the Char Dham Yatra, Kanwar Yatra, and disaster preparedness amidst the monsoon.

The Chief Minister has urged all officials to maintain vigilance and keep disaster management systems at the ready to address any potential emergencies, ensuring public safety throughout the pilgrimage period. He has also emphasised the importance of accessible communication among officials during this time.

Government Preparedness for Monsoon Challenges

During the meeting, Chief Minister Dhami issued specific instructions aimed at enhancing road conditions and managing any weather-related emergencies. He encouraged all District Magistrates to ensure that roadways remain clear of potholes and other hazards that could impede travel.

The campaign ‘Jan-Jan Ki Sarkar, Jan-Jan Ke Dwar’ underscores the government’s commitment to improve infrastructure and services for the public, especially during challenging weather conditions. This initiative aims to enhance communication and services, particularly for pilgrims participating in the Char Dham Yatra.

Overall, the Char Dham Yatra is progressing well despite the monsoon’s unpredictable nature, as government measures and enthusiastic participation continue to support the pilgrimage’s ongoing success.
