US-Iran Agreement Could Be Finalised Within Days, Says Senior White House Official

The CSR Journal Magazine

A senior White House official has said a proposed agreement between the United States and Iran could be signed within the next few days, expressing confidence that the deal would fulfil the key objectives outlined by the US President, even as internal divisions within Iran continue to pose challenges.

Speaking on Friday, the official said negotiations had advanced significantly and estimated an 80 to 85 per cent likelihood that the agreement would be concluded soon, although a final breakthrough had not yet been secured.

The official described the proposed arrangement as one that would address maritime tensions, dismantle Iran’s nuclear programme and establish a long-term framework aimed at promoting stability across the region.

US Outlines Key Objectives Of Proposed Deal

According to the senior White House official, the agreement is designed to achieve several strategic goals sought by Washington. These include reopening key maritime routes and lifting blockades, dismantling Iran’s nuclear infrastructure and ensuring that enriched nuclear material is removed from the country.

The official said the agreement provides for the destruction of the material on site before it is transferred out of Iran. The proposed framework would also include a monitoring mechanism intended to guarantee long-term compliance.

In addition, the official said the agreement aims to create conditions for sustained peace in the region by ending support for violence and ensuring respect for Iran’s territorial sovereignty.

“What the deal does is actually quite simple. It accomplishes the core objectives that the President of the United States set out for this mission,” the official said.

Washington Warns Against Iranian Domestic Narratives

The official cautioned observers against placing too much emphasis on messaging emerging from Iranian state-linked media, arguing that hardliners in Tehran were likely to present the agreement in ways favourable to domestic audiences.

According to the White House official, such narratives were expected and should be viewed in the context of internal political dynamics within Iran. The official said some inaccuracies could emerge as different factions attempt to shape public perception.

Despite these challenges, the official indicated that most influential figures within the Iranian system appeared to support the agreement, although not everyone had yet come on board.

“Most of the people that we’ve been speaking to, and most of the people who have authority within their system, want to sign this deal, but not everybody,” the official said.

Economic Incentives Linked To Compliance

The senior official also dismissed reports suggesting that Iran would receive immediate financial rewards upon signing a memorandum of understanding.

According to the White House, Tehran would not obtain any upfront payments. Instead, economic benefits would be granted incrementally based on compliance with commitments under the agreement.

The official explained that incentives would be tied to specific actions, including the surrender of enriched nuclear material, the dismantling of nuclear facilities and broader commitments aimed at promoting peace and stability in the region.

Negotiators are continuing efforts to resolve remaining differences, with Washington expressing cautious optimism that a final agreement could be reached in the coming days. The White House, however, stressed that the process remained complex and that no deal would be considered complete until all parties formally agreed to the terms.
