The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has expressed serious concerns regarding the alleged killing of two forcibly disappeared Baloch youths, which they claim occurred in a staged encounter in the Chedgi area of Panjgur, Balochistan. This incident reportedly highlights a continuous pattern of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings in the region. The youths have been identified as Shoaib, son of Muhammad Ayub, and 23-year-old Peerjan Baloch, son of Kachkol, as detailed in a report by The Balochistan Post (TBP).

Both individuals had reportedly previously disappeared before their families were informed that they had been killed during an alleged encounter that took place on August 10, 2026. The BYC claims that Shoaib, a shopkeeper and resident of Panjgur, was forcibly disappeared on February 8, 2023, leading to over three years of uncertainty for his family.

On the other hand, Peerjan Baloch was allegedly taken by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) around 3 pm on June 9, 2026. His family states that no charges were communicated to them, nor was any warrant or formal complaint provided during his arrest.

According to the BYC, Peerjan’s family patiently awaited his return for 66 days before they were informed on August 10 that he had also been killed. They had held onto hope that the young driver would return home, but received the tragic news of his death instead. This situation reportedly leads to emotional turmoil and unresolvable questions for the relatives of the deceased.

The BYC has voiced further concerns over the alleged killings of five young Baloch men in the same locality, claiming their bodies were subsequently taken to a hospital by Pakistani forces. This pattern of enforced disappearances, unlawful detentions, and extrajudicial killings reportedly contributes to a climate of fear among the Baloch community.

In statements made by the BYC, the organisation emphasises that the cases of Shoaib and Peerjan represent more than just individual tragedies. They are indicative of a larger human rights crisis impacting families in Balochistan, where uncertainty reigns and the mental toll on families waiting for news of their loved ones is immense.

Call for Accountability and Human Rights Observations

The BYC has urged both national and international human rights organisations to launch independent, transparent inquiries into the allegations of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings within Balochistan. They are calling for those responsible for these acts to be identified and held accountable under the law.
