The Special Investigation Team (SIT) established by the Uttar Pradesh Government has presented its status report regarding the Ram Mandir donation theft case to the Supreme Court. This report was submitted under seal to a three-judge bench led by Chief Justice of India, Surya Kant. The court is set to review the report on Monday, as the case continues to garner significant public attention.

The SIT has reported that eight individuals have been arrested in connection with the case so far. Investigators are actively working to trace the entire financial trail to uncover additional assets and beneficiaries involved in the alleged theft. The authorities have expressed optimism that further recoveries and notable revelations are anticipated as the investigation proceeds.

In a preliminary examination, the SIT indicated that approximately seventy suspicious activities were recorded on CCTV from April 27 to June 5, 2026. The footage reportedly shows counting staff engaged in concealing large sums of cash, raising concerns about operational security at the facility.

Details of Financial Discrepancies and Recoveries

The SIT’s preliminary report highlights various lapses that may have facilitated the alleged theft. These include the absence of frisking measures at entry and exit points, inadequate management of personal belongings, and the improper aggregation of cash collected from multiple donation boxes. Such factors are believed to have significantly contributed to the occurrences of theft.

Significantly, prior to the initiation of the investigation, approximately Rs 78.94 lakh was reportedly recovered from certain employees. Additionally, on June 4, another Rs 2.25 lakh was allegedly discovered in the bathroom adjacent to the counting room. These findings bolster the seriousness of the case and underline the urgency of the investigation.

Moreover, the report notes that no initial evidence has been found to corroborate claims circulating on social media regarding the disappearance of silver bricks or other high-value donations. This aspect is crucial as it helps clarify misleading narratives that might complicate the ongoing investigation.

Law enforcement has achieved a significant breakthrough in the Ram Temple donation theft case. During a late-night raid, police recovered a four-wheeler, a motorcycle, gold jewellery, cash, and vital financial documents following disclosures made by the primary suspect, Ram Shankar Yadav, also known as Tinnu. This development came to light during Tinnu’s 39-hour police remand, during which he provided critical information about the hidden assets.

The recovery of such substantial items is expected to bolster the case against the accused and may lead to further arrests as inquiries continue. Investigators are analysing the recovered evidence to establish a clearer picture of the financial activities surrounding the Ram Mandir donations.

As the investigation progresses, authorities remain committed to unveiling the complete scope of operations that allowed for the alleged theft of donations intended for the revered temple.
