The CSR Journal Magazine

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has reviewed preparations for the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination scheduled for June 21, directing officials to ensure the test is conducted in a secure, transparent, and seamless manner. The high-level review meeting was held at the National Testing Agency (NTA) headquarters amid heightened scrutiny following the cancellation of the original examination over alleged irregularities and question paper leaks.

During the meeting, Pradhan emphasized that all shortcomings identified in the earlier examination process must be addressed comprehensively. He instructed officials to strengthen security protocols and ensure strict monitoring at every stage of the examination process.

Enhanced Security Measures Put in Place

Authorities have introduced a multi-layered security framework to safeguard the re-examination. According to officials, question paper setters have been placed under strict isolation, while additional surveillance and monitoring mechanisms have been deployed to prevent any possibility of leaks or malpractice.

The NTA has also been asked to coordinate closely with district administrations, police authorities, and examination centres across the country. Special focus is being placed on secure transportation and storage of examination materials, real-time monitoring, and digital security measures.

Government officials have stated that cybersecurity systems are being reviewed and strengthened to counter any online threats or misinformation campaigns that could disrupt the examination process.

CBI Investigation Into Irregularities Continues

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) continues to probe the circumstances that led to the cancellation of the original NEET-UG 2026 examination. The inquiry is examining how the alleged breaches occurred and identifying individuals or networks involved.

The Education Ministry has maintained that accountability will be fixed once the investigation is completed. The NTA has been directed to cooperate fully with investigating agencies and provide all necessary data and assistance.

The controversy surrounding the examination has triggered widespread concern among students and parents, prompting the government to take additional corrective measures aimed at restoring confidence in the system.

Focus on Student Confidence and Transparency

More than 22 lakh candidates are expected to appear for the re-examination on June 21. Along with security arrangements, Pradhan has instructed officials to ensure adequate facilities for students, including smooth transportation, drinking water, and a student-friendly environment at examination centres.

The minister reiterated that maintaining the integrity of the examination remains the government’s top priority. With enhanced safeguards, tighter coordination, and ongoing investigations, authorities aim to conduct the re-NEET in a manner that restores trust in one of India’s most important entrance examinations.
