Two Shooters Linked To Kapil Sangwan Gang Injured and Arrested After Police Encounter In Outer Delhi

The CSR Journal Magazine

The recent encounter between the Delhi Police’s Special Staff and two alleged criminals culminated in the arrest of the suspects in Outer Delhi. The individuals, reportedly associated with the Kapil Sangwan gang, were apprehended after they allegedly fired at police officers. During the exchange, both suspects sustained injuries to their legs, as confirmed by law enforcement officials.

Background of the Suspects

According to police reports, the arrested individuals are believed to have been involved in a shooting incident at the residence of a property dealer located in Bahadurgarh. The police indicated that the suspects maintained direct connections to the Kapil Sangwan gang, also known as Nandu’s gang. This aligns with ongoing investigations into the gang’s activities and the violent acts allegedly orchestrated by its members.

This encounter follows a previous operation in May, during which the Delhi Police’s Special Cell apprehended three shooters tied to the same gang. Additionally, two individuals accused of supplying weapons were arrested, highlighting a significant attempt to dismantle the gang’s operational capabilities. The planning for a firing incident was reportedly linked to an extortion scheme run by the gang from overseas.

From the records, the arrested shooters were identified as Abhishek, Sahil, and Harshdeep, also known as Polu. The alleged weapon suppliers were identified as Karan, also called Ankush, and Aman. It was established that the shooters were primarily based in Punjab, while the suppliers operated from Haryana. The police conducted extensive surveillance after receiving intelligence inputs about the shooters being engaged by Sangwan’s gang to carry out criminal activities in Delhi.

Information from Arrests

On March 20, the Special Cell initially took one suspect into custody during their operations. Upon interrogation, he provided crucial information, allegedly disclosing that he and his fellow conspirators had previously surveyed the targeted clinic in the Chhawla area. This reconnaissance was methodically carried out, indicating a degree of premeditation and planning behind the gang’s intentions.

The accused reportedly confessed that they had arranged for firearms and a motorcycle to be used during the commissioned attack in Delhi. However, due to the large crowd near the clinic at the time of the planned shooting, the attack could not be executed as intended. Following this failed attempt, they allegedly sought to regroup and launch another strike.

These revelations led to the identification and capture of the other suspects involved in this criminal conspiracy. The police recovered three semi-automatic pistols, four live cartridges, and three mobile phones that had been used to facilitate communication with Kapil Sangwan, further solidifying the gang’s operational network.

Impact of the Arrests

The apprehension of these suspects is viewed as a significant milestone in curbing the activities of the Kapil Sangwan gang. The investigations revealed intricate details regarding the gang’s alleged extortion network and organisational structure, which demonstrated its attempts to evade law enforcement even after arrests were made.

Law enforcement officials have reported that these arrests helped prevent a substantial planned shooting in the national capital, which could have led to severe repercussions for public safety. Ongoing investigations are likely to provide more insights into the operational methods employed by the gang, as police work to dismantle its network.
