The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Nagaland held a two-wheeler rally named ‘Har Ghar Tiranga Yatra’ at Eco-Park in Kohima on August 10, 2026. This initiative is part of the celebrations for the 80th anniversary of India’s Independence Day. He emphasised that the national flag represents not only the country’s identity but also the values of respect and responsibility. Along urged citizens to honour the flag appropriately, reinforcing that it should not be treated as litter after the event concludes.

In his address, Along articulated that Nagaland is joining a larger national movement to commemorate Independence Day through the display of the Tricolour. He highlighted that the flag serves as a symbol of national integration and responsible citizenship, calling on all citizens to uphold its dignity even beyond the celebrations. Moreover, he encouraged participants to either return the flags via proper channels or keep them at home in respectful display.

He stated, “Let this Tricolour be the pride of every citizen of our state,” underlining the collective responsibility to honour both the flag and the nation. The minister’s remarks were well-received, reinforcing the need for civic responsibility around national symbols.

Rally Highlights National Pride and Unity

The programme commenced with a brief introduction by Eduzu Theluo, the State Vice President and Convenor of the Har Ghar Tiranga Yatra Committee. Theluo discussed the significance of the campaign, which aims to evoke feelings of national pride among citizens. The rally featured a diverse assembly of BJP functionaries, party veterans, tribal leaders, youth, and the wider community, all coming together to celebrate their shared national identity.
