TVK chief C Joseph Vijay announced that his party has decided to allot the vacant Rajya Sabha seat to the Congress after C Ve Shanmugam of the AIADMK resigned from the Upper House. Following this period, scrutiny of the nominations is scheduled for June 9.

The process will also include a deadline for withdrawal of candidatures, set for June 11. The elections themselves will take place on June 18, with voting hours established from 9 am to 4 pm.
