Tragedy Strikes Gurugram Family Following Delhi Hotel Fire

The CSR Journal Magazine

The recent passing of Radheshyam Aggarwal, aged 80, has brought an unimaginable tragedy to a Gurugram family, effectively ending the direct lineage. Aggarwal died on June 6, 2026, at Max Hospital in Delhi after struggling with a severe lung condition. He had been on ventilator support since May 30 and was unaware of the catastrophic events transpiring just days before his death.

Fire Claims Eight Lives at Delhi Hotel

The tragedy unfolded in the early hours of June 3 when a fire broke out at Flourish Stays, a hotel situated in the Hauz Rani area of south Delhi. The hotel had become a temporary refuge for Radheshyam Aggarwal’s family, who had gathered in the capital to support him during his medical emergency. His son, Vivek Aggarwal, a chartered accountant, had booked rooms to stay close by.

The inferno trapped several occupants, leading to the deaths of eight family members and relatives. The victims included Radheshyam’s wife, Premlata, and his son, Vivek, as well as his daughter-in-law, Tarjani, and two young grandchildren, Jeevisha and Variya. The fire also claimed the lives of Vivek’s maternal uncle, Ashok Goyal, alongside his aunt, Kamla, and her husband, Javri Lal.

This devastating event has left the entire family structure in ruins, with Radheshyam’s demise concluding an entire line of kin. The horrifying incident highlights the vulnerability of families who travel to caregiving sites and prompts discussions about safety measures in hospitality venues to prevent such tragedies in the future.

Community in Mourning Over Unprecedented Loss

This double bereavement has left a profound mark on the neighbourhood, who cannot fathom a tragedy of such magnitude. The remark made by a local resident encapsulates the communal grief: “What happened to them should never happen to anyone.” The emotional burden reflects not only the loss of individual family members but also the erasure of a familial legacy.

As community members gather to console one another, many continue to await the release of Radheshyam’s body from the hospital for the final rites. Extended relatives and neighbours are rallying in support to orchestrate the last farewell, underlining the resilience of community bonds in the face of overwhelming sorrow.
