TCS Executive Ashwini Chainani Arrested for Allegedly Pressuring Complainant

A new complaint has added momentum to the ongoing controversy involving alleged workplace misconduct at a BPO in Nashik linked to Tata Consultancy Services. A fourth woman has come forward, claiming that her repeated attempts to report harassment were not acted upon and that she was instead discouraged from pursuing the issue further.

Survivor Details Pattern of Alleged Harassment

In her account, the woman has named Raza Memon as the primary accused. She alleged that the behaviour began during her induction in May 2023 and gradually escalated. What initially appeared as attempts at personal interaction later turned into persistent following, uncomfortable staring, and unwanted physical proximity, she claimed.

She also stated that being new to the workplace made it difficult for her to report the behaviour immediately, allowing the situation to continue unchecked.

Complaints Met With Inaction

According to the survivor, when she approached her supervisors, the response was limited to informal advice such as avoiding being alone rather than taking formal action. She claimed that both her training manager and team leader were aware of concerns about the accused’s behaviour but did not escalate the matter.

This alleged lack of intervention, she said, contributed to the continuation of the misconduct.

Allegations of Retaliation and Workplace Pressure

The complaint further includes claims of retaliation after she raised concerns. The woman alleged that rumours about her personal life were circulated within the workplace and that her workload was deliberately increased by colleagues.

She also described instances of inappropriate remarks continuing even after her marriage, including intrusive comments about her personal life and questions about her leave.

Senior Management Under Scrutiny

A significant part of the complaint centres on the alleged response from senior officials. The survivor has accused Ashwini Chainani of dismissing her concerns and advising her to drop the matter instead of initiating action.

These allegations have drawn attention in light of reports that Chainani was later arrested in connection with attempting to influence a complainant in the case.

Investigation Raises Broader Concerns

The case is now under examination by law enforcement authorities, who are looking into allegations of harassment, workplace retaliation, and possible attempts to suppress complaints. Another colleague, Shahrukh, has also been named in the statement over a separate incident.

So far, Tata Consultancy Services has not issued a detailed public response. The developments have raised wider questions about workplace safety, accountability, and how organisations handle internal complaints, especially when senior personnel are involved.
