Nida Khan Granted Bail in TCS Nashik Religious Conversion Case

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Nashik Road Court has granted bail to Nida Khan, one of the accused in a case involving alleged religious conversion and sexual harassment linked to a BPO unit associated with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). This decision comes nearly two months after her arrest in May 2026. Alongside Khan, the court also approved bail for co-accused Tausif Attar, while denying a similar request from another accused, Danish Shaikh.

Additional Sessions Judge KG Joshi presided over the case, which was filed at the Deolali Camp Police Station. Khan, who worked as a telecaller at the TCS Nashik BPO unit, had been on the run for over six weeks before her arrest and has been in judicial custody since that time. Throughout her detention, Khan submitted multiple bail applications, highlighting her pregnancy and the challenges she faced while incarcerated.

The court, while previously contemplating bail, had requested a report from the prison’s medical officer and mandated that necessary facilities be provided to her during her custody. Previous attempts at securing bail for Khan were rejected by the court.

Allegations and Investigation Details

The allegations against Khan emerged earlier in 2026 when several female employees at the TCS-linked BPO unit reported instances of sexual harassment and coercion to convert to a different religion from their colleagues and supervisors. This prompted the Nashik police to register several FIRs between March and April of the same year and establish a Special Investigation Team (SIT) for further inquiry.

According to investigators, Khan is believed to have contributed significantly to the aspects of religious conversion within the case. One complainant accused her of damaging her religious sentiments and trying to sway her beliefs. The SIT’s investigation reportedly uncovered evidence that Khan shared Islamic religious material, such as books and videos, with the complainant.

Additionally, law enforcement is investigating Khan’s reported connections in Malaysia, following allegations that she purportedly offered assistance to the complainant in securing employment in that country.

Prosecution’s Stance on Bail Requests

Moreover, the prosecution stated that Shaikh allegedly pursued the conversion despite being aware that the complainant belonged to a Scheduled Caste community. The ongoing investigation by the SIT has led to multiple arrests in recent months as they continue to scrutinise digital evidence, witness statements, and other pertinent material.

In response to the situation, TCS has suspended employees implicated in the case and initiated an internal inquiry. The organisation has reiterated its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy regarding misconduct and is cooperating fully with law enforcement authorities during the investigation.
