Paresh Rawal Discusses Akshay Kumar’s Legal Notice Regarding Hera Pheri 3

The CSR Journal Magazine

Veteran actor Paresh Rawal has addressed the Rs 25 crore legal notice issued by his co-star Akshay Kumar concerning his exit from the film Hera Pheri 3. Rawal emphasised that his decision to step away from the project was a matter of contractual obligations rather than personal conflicts with Kumar. He clarified that the controversy arose due to a lack of approval from producer Firoz A Nadiadwala, who holds the rights to the franchise.

Rawal expressed his frustration over the legal proceedings initiated by Kumar, stating he preferred to avoid any legal disputes and focus on his passion for filmmaking. He noted that the legal notice felt overwhelming, prompting him to reconsider his involvement in the project. The actor remarked that being drawn into a legal battle was not his intention or desire.

Highlighting his ongoing respect for Kumar, Rawal suggested that the decision to pursue legal action was likely an emotional response from the 58-year-old actor. He stated, “I genuinely believe the legal notice was an emotional reaction. It was probably a case of, ‘How could he say no to me?’” This observation underscores Rawal’s commitment to maintaining a cordial relationship with his co-star.

Resolution of the Dispute and Future Prospects

Despite the protracted legal dispute, Rawal has ultimately agreed to return to the project, reaffirming his dedication to the franchise. He conveyed a willingness to be part of Hera Pheri 3 regardless of the director or producer involved in the project. “Whenever Hera Pheri actually happens, I’ll do it. I’m married to that film,” he stated, indicating his deep-rooted connection to the series.

When asked whether he and Kumar resolved their differences through direct conversation, Rawal confirmed that no formal discussions took place but acknowledged their collaborative spirit. He mentioned that sometimes issues resolve themselves without the need for explicit dialogue, highlighting an amicable atmosphere between him and Kumar.

In the midst of these developments, the film has encountered further setbacks. Renowned director Priyadarshan has recently stepped away from Hera Pheri 3, a decision supported by producer Firoz A Nadiadwala. Earlier this year, Priyadarshan expressed optimism regarding the film’s progress, yet it appears that external circumstances continue to hinder its actualisation.

Akshay Kumar Addresses the Film’s Delays

Addressing the ongoing delays, Akshay Kumar has stated that the production of Hera Pheri 3 is currently stalled due to various legal and contractual complications. During a conversation on Shubhankar Mishra’s YouTube channel, Kumar confirmed that the project will not be back on track for at least the next year. He clarified that the issues were not between himself, Rawal, and Suniel Shetty, but involved broader challenges behind the scenes.

Kumar offered a candid perspective on the complexities of the situation, mentioning that some discussions could not be publicly revealed. Nevertheless, he maintained a hopeful outlook for the future of the franchise, asserting that the film will materialise when the timing is appropriate. He added with humour, “I just hope we are not too old by then,” suggesting a desire for the project to move forward in a timely manner.

Since its inception with the first film in 2000, followed by the sequel Phir Hera Pheri in 2006, the franchise has garnered a dedicated fan base. The current uncertainties surrounding the production reflect the challenges often faced in the film industry, overshadowing the enthusiasm that comes from the beloved series.
