Sheela Foam Limited has disclosed its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) expenditures for the financial year 2025-26, highlighting a commitment to social development. The company allocated Rs. 5.37 crore for various CSR initiatives, surpassing its mandated obligation of Rs. 3.16 crore. This figure underscores the firm’s dedication to areas such as education, healthcare, sanitation, and skill development.
The average net profit that informed the CSR calculation was Rs. 169.91 crore, necessitating a contribution of 2 per cent, which amounted to Rs. 3.40 crore. Sheela Foam added to this amount, demonstrating a proactive approach to social responsibility. The positive balance, with no unspent CSR funds, indicates effective planning and execution of CSR projects throughout the year.
Sheela Foam’s CSR initiatives are primarily executed through the Sleepwell Foundation, the company’s designated CSR arm. This foundation has historically focused on improving various societal parameters, particularly in underprivileged communities in rural areas.
Key Areas of CSR Focus
In its efforts to enhance community welfare, Sheela Foam has laid emphasis on multiple sectors. The wellness education initiative emerged as the most significant CSR activity, receiving Rs. 2.43 crore. This programme was oriented towards raising awareness about emotional wellness, aimed specifically at underserved populations. The foundation conducted workshops, seminars, and digital campaigns, reaching over 31.6 million individuals during the year.
Skill development represented another critical area, with an allocation of Rs. 1.78 crore employed in vocational training for rural youth. In total, 956 participants benefited from skill-building courses, enabling over 423 individuals to secure employment or start their own ventures. This initiative is designed to enhance the long-term employability of participants in rural settings.
Additionally, the CSR activities included a direct financial commitment of Rs. 13.21 lakh aimed at supporting armed forces veterans, reflecting the company’s acknowledgement of their contributions. Other educational and infrastructure enhancements accounted for Rs. 1.02 crore, focusing on improving school facilities to foster better learning environments.
Governance and Reporting of CSR Initiatives
The governance framework for Sheela Foam’s CSR strategy revolves around a dedicated CSR Committee tasked with overseeing policy and expenditure. Led by Anil Tandon as Chairperson, the committee met once during the year to evaluate and steer CSR initiatives. Such oversight is essential for ensuring accountability and adherence to compliance standards.
Sheela Foam’s reporting for the financial year highlighted a robust governance structure, ensuring transparency in its CSR execution. The lack of unspent CSR allocations underscores the effectiveness of planning and execution of the projects. The impact of the CSR activities aligns with broader company objectives, reinforcing the relationship between corporate identity and community outreach.
Looking forward, enhancing disclosure regarding specific metrics related to project outcomes could advance the CSR report’s comprehensiveness. Providing more detailed data about the reach and effectiveness of initiatives in areas such as emotional wellness, educational improvements, and skill training would offer a clearer picture of the social impact achieved.
