Russia has intensified its military operations in Ukraine, with significant attacks occurring overnight. In the southern Odesa region, at least one individual has been killed, and multiple injuries have been reported due to the strikes.
According to regional Governor Oleh Kiper, a drone strike targeted the Black Sea port city of Odesa, wounding two residents. The attack resulted in damage to port infrastructure and severe destruction to two high-rise residential buildings, igniting fires and leaving apartments uninhabitable.
Kiper communicated on the Telegram platform that emergency services are active, providing necessary assistance to the victims of this assault. He condemned the ongoing targeting of civilian infrastructure within the Odesa region, highlighting the attacks as a continued threat to local safety.
Mykolaiv and Dnipropetrovsk Targeted
The situation was similarly alarming in Mykolaiv, where additional drone strikes took place. Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych reported damages in the private sector, as well as a fire resulting from the attacks. Residents were urged to seek shelter amid ongoing threats.
In central Ukraine, the Dnipropetrovsk region faced relentless bombardment, with reports indicating nearly twenty drone and artillery strikes. Oleksandr Ganzha, the head of the Regional Military Administration (OVA), noted that infrastructure in Kryvyi Rih was targeted, causing injuries to one individual.
Additionally, strikes were reported in the Synelnyky district and surrounding communities, where residential properties suffered damage. The Nikopol district also reported impacts, including damage to a petrol station, administrative buildings, and numerous civilian vehicles.
Continued Attacks in Kherson and Counteractions
In Kherson, drone attacks have persisted for over 24 hours, affecting various locations, including Zymivnyk and Komyshany. Yaroslav Shanko, head of the Ukrainian Defence Ministry, indicated that four settlements within the Kherson community have been struck during this continuous assault.
Tragically, these attacks have resulted in one death and eight injuries within the community. Damaged properties include private homes, multistorey buildings, and civilian infrastructure, illustrating the extensive impact of military actions on civilian life.
The ongoing conflict has seen Ukraine retaliate as well, having carried out its fourth drone strike in recent weeks against the Russian Black Sea port of Tuapse. Reports from the General Headquarters in Krasnodar acknowledged that a fire broke out at the seaport terminal as a result of the attack, underscoring the reciprocal nature of hostilities in the region.
The current situation indicates a sustained escalation in military operations on both sides, with civilian populations continuing to bear the brunt of hostilities in several regions of Ukraine. International calls for de-escalation and peace are growing as the conflict exhibits no signs of abating, raising concerns for the safety of the affected individuals and communities across the nation.
