Puja Conducted Inside Moving Train Sparks Online Buzz

The CSR Journal Magazine

A video showing a priest performing a puja inside a moving train has gained significant attention on social media, following the earlier notoriety of the ‘Honeymoon coach.’ The clip depicts a priest seated on the floor of the train coach, leading a group of devotees, many of whom are observed wearing traditional white attire. This unusual ceremony has spurred curiosity and discussions among viewers online.

As the video circulated widely, Northern Railways felt compelled to clarify the situation surrounding the event. Their statement addressed misconceptions regarding the nature of the coach where the rituals took place, asserting it was not a standard passenger coach but a privately booked saloon car.

Clarification from Northern Railways

In their official statement, Northern Railways provided details about the booking of the saloon coach, which had been arranged through IRCTC on July 8, 2026, following a payment of Rs 3,08,580. The coach was designated to be added to Train No. 12926 Paschim Express, scheduled for a journey from New Delhi (NDLS) to Mumbai (BDTS) on July 10, 2026.

The organisation confirmed that they had granted approval for this commercial operation on July 10, contingent upon operational feasibility. They emphasised that the safety, security, and convenience of all passengers is paramount and reiterated that no injuries occurred during the incident. The priest performing the rituals was stated to be situated in the saloon car that had been reserved by the party involved.

This clarification alleviated concerns that the puja had interfered with regular train services or inconvenienced other travellers, as the event was confined to a coach specifically booked for the group’s use.

Public Reaction and Social Media Discussions

Despite the official clarification, the video continues to generate lively discussions on social media platforms, where users have expressed a mix of surprise and intrigue regarding the ability to privately book an entire saloon coach for such occasions. Many participants in the conversation noted that understanding the commercial nature of the booking was crucial for contextualising the event.

The incident, as captured in the video, adds to a series of peculiar moments from Indian railways that have gone viral in recent years. The unique nature of train journeys in India often leads to unexpected occurrences, and this puja is no exception. As social media continues to engage with such stories, the intersection of tradition and modern travel habits in India remains a topic of fascination for many.

In conclusion, while the puja inside the moving train has indeed sparked considerable interest, the clarification provided by Northern Railways ensures that the event is understood within its appropriate context, namely, a private and organised ritual rather than an interruption to standard train operations.
