Following a robust opening day, the movie has garnered a cumulative nett collection of Rs 109.95 crore in India across 34,152 shows. The film’s success on Friday is seen as a positive indicator for its overall weekend performance, particularly as it achieved the highest opening day for a Hollywood film in India.
The second day occupancy in Indian theatres was recorded at 64.8 per cent, showcasing strong viewer turnout with 16,902 shows. This followed the impressive Day 1, which yielded Rs 72.44 crore gross from 17,250 shows at a 72.3 per cent occupancy rate.
Day 2 Box Office Breakdown
The English version of Spider-Man: Brand New Day led the box office on Friday, bringing in Rs 28 crore nett from 7,574 shows with a 47 per cent occupancy rate. The Hindi version followed closely, earning Rs 17 crore nett from 7,100 shows, reportedly achieving the highest occupancy among all languages at 90 per cent.
The dubbed Tamil version collected Rs 2.25 crore from 1,166 shows, equivalent to 49 per cent occupancy, while the Telugu version brought in Rs 2 crore from 957 shows at 42 per cent occupancy. Furthermore, the Malayalam version earned Rs 0.07 crore from 49 shows, and the Kannada version contributed Rs 0.03 crore from 56 shows.
The overall occupancy for the English 3D version on Day 2 was 49.31 per cent, showing gradual increases throughout the day. In contrast, the Hindi 3D version held an overall occupancy of 36.79 per cent, demonstrating variations in viewer engagement over the course of the day.
Record Opening and Future Projections
Notably, Spider-Man: Brand New Day opened on Thursday with a gross of Rs 72.44 crore and a nett of Rs 60.60 crore in India, marking it as the largest Day 1 gross for a Hollywood film within the market. This surpassed the previous record set by Avengers: Endgame, which had earned about Rs 54 crore nett on its opening day.
With Friday’s collections nearly matching Day 1, the film has achieved over Rs 130 crore gross in India within just two days. Current projections suggest that Spider-Man: Brand New Day could reach approximately Rs 275 crore gross over its four-day opening weekend, with ongoing bookings hinting at potential for further increases.
This resurgence in box office earnings illustrates the enduring appeal of the Spider-Man franchise, particularly following the successful events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. The film, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, continues to attract audiences eager to see Tom Holland reprise his role as Peter Parker.
