Video Gains Traction Online

In the widely circulated reel, Modi was seen smiling and shaking hands with the actors during the event. The video was set to the Panchayat theme song, adding a familiar element for viewers of the series.

The post was shared with the caption, “A few moments with Binod”, drawing significant engagement from fans online.

Ashok Pathak later responded to the post, expressing gratitude in Hindi for the affection and blessings he had received. Social media users largely focused on the informal and friendly nature of the interaction.

Characters Become Fan Favourites

Durgesh Kumar and Ashok Pathak play Bhushan and Binod, two of the most recognisable characters in Panchayat. Initially introduced as supporting antagonists in the fictional village of Phulera, the duo gradually became audience favourites due to their comic timing and distinctive on-screen chemistry.

Durgesh Kumar, a graduate of the National School of Drama, made his breakthrough with filmmaker Imtiaz Ali’s Highway in 2014. He has since appeared in films such as Sultan, Sanju, Dhadak and Bhakshak.

His role in Panchayat expanded over the seasons, with Bhushan becoming part of the show’s principal cast from the third season onward.

Ashok Pathak has featured in several films, including Bittoo Boss, Shanghai, A Death in the Gunj and 102 Not Out. However, his portrayal of Binod in Panchayat has emerged as the most prominent role of his career.

Panchayat Continues Its Successful Run

Panchayat remains one of India’s most popular streaming series. The fourth season premiered on June 24, 2025, and recorded the strongest opening in the show’s history.

Prime Video and The Viral Fever have already announced a fifth season, which is scheduled for release in 2026.

Created by Deepak Kumar Mishra and Chandan Kumar, the series has built a strong audience both in India and internationally. In 2023, it won the inaugural Best Web Series (OTT) award at the 54th International Film Festival of India.

The ensemble cast includes Jitendra Kumar, Neena Gupta, Raghubir Yadav and Faisal Malik, among others, and the show continues to enjoy a loyal fan following across generations.
