Prime Minister Narendra Modi reported a productive meeting with the Council of Ministers focused on reforms designed to improve both ease of living and ease of doing business. The meeting convened at Seva Teerth in New Delhi, with Prime Minister Modi presiding over the session. Detailed presentations were made by various crucial ministries, which included Agriculture, Forest, Labour, Road Transport, Corporate Affairs, External Affairs, Commerce, and Power. This collaborative approach sought to identify effective practices that could enhance government services.

Importance of Efficient Governance Highlighted

During the proceedings, Prime Minister Modi underscored the necessity for rapid decision-making and effective governance. He urged ministers to ensure that official files progress swiftly, avoiding unnecessary delays that could impede productivity. The Prime Minister advocated for greater simplicity in governance, insisting that reforms should take centre stage in their operations.

As part of the meeting, Modi expressed that the vision for ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ transcends a mere slogan, functioning instead as the government’s core commitment. He called upon ministries that had received lower evaluations regarding their performance to undertake corrective measures aimed at improving efficiency and service delivery.

In addition to focusing on internal operations, the Prime Minister instructed ministers to engage proactively with the public. He emphasized the importance of communicating the government’s achievements over the past twelve years effectively. This directive aligns with the need for greater transparency and public involvement in governance.

Midterm Assessment Viewed as Critical

According to insiders, the meeting served as a significant midterm review of the government’s overall performance. This high-level assembly saw the participation of Union Cabinet ministers, ministers of state with independent charge, and other state ministers, bringing together diverse expertise to evaluate progress.

The Council of Ministers comprises a total of 30 cabinet ministers, excluding the Prime Minister, alongside five independent ministers of state and 36 ministers of state. This configuration aims to facilitate a collaborative environment for the discussion of pressing governance issues.

By focusing on efficient governance and furthering reforms, the Prime Minister’s initiative is indicative of the government’s commitment to strengthening its operational capabilities.
