Pawan Kalyan Discharged After Four-Day Hospital Stay Following Shoulder Surgery

The CSR Journal Magazine

Pawan Kalyan, the Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and president of the Jana Sena Party, has been discharged from Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. His release occurred on July 15, 2026, four days after he underwent surgery on his right shoulder. Medical professionals have confirmed that he is recovering well and is fit to continue his recovery outside the hospital.

Following his discharge, Kalyan returned to his residence in Hyderabad. He will be under medical supervision to facilitate his ongoing recovery. He had been admitted to the hospital on July 11 after doctors recommended surgical intervention for a significant tear in the rotator cuff muscle of his right shoulder.

The surgical procedure was carried out by an expert team, led by the well-known orthopaedic surgeon Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala. It lasted approximately three-and-a-half hours, during which additional issues, including an avulsion fracture in the same shoulder, were also addressed.

Post-Surgical Recommendations

Doctors have advised Kalyan to take complete bed rest for three weeks following his surgery. This period is vital before he can commence physiotherapy. They anticipate that his operated shoulder will regain its normal strength and functionality in about four months, contingent upon adherence to the prescribed rehabilitation plan.

The medical team also found that Kalyan’s left shoulder has sustained rotator cuff injuries, and he will need physiotherapy and strengthening exercises for it. A review of his condition is set for six months post-surgery, at which time further treatment options will be assessed.

Among those concerned about his wellbeing, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu visited Kalyan in the hospital. Following the visit, Naidu expressed assurance regarding Kalyan’s recovery, stating that he was recovering well and that there was confidence he would heal quickly.

Family’s Support and Gratitude

Kalyan’s wife, Anna Konidala, shared her feelings on social media after his discharge. She expressed heartfelt gratitude towards the medical team for their exceptional care during her husband’s surgery. In her Instagram post, she highlighted the skill and professionalism demonstrated by the doctors, which provided peace of mind for their family.

Anna emphasized the importance of kindness, dedication, and compassion throughout this challenging experience, thanking the staff for their support. Her sentiments reflect the family’s appreciation for the attention Kalyan received during his hospital stay.

The Jana Sena Party has indicated that Kalyan has been experiencing chronic shoulder pain since 2016. Over time, the condition has worsened, exacerbated by both his political and professional obligations. Following surgery, he is expected to refrain from political engagements and public appearances to focus solely on his rehabilitation.
