Over 70,000 Class 12 Students Apply for CBSE Re-evaluation by June 4

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has reported a massive response to its post-result grievance redressal process, with 70,433 applications received by June 4, 2026. According to the Board, the submissions include 7,314 requests for verification of marks and 63,119 applications for re-evaluation of answer sheets, reflecting the high level of engagement from students seeking a review of their results.

Cyberattack Attempt During Application Window

CBSE revealed that its online verification and re-evaluation portal faced multiple cyberattack attempts shortly after it went live on June 2. Officials said the platform encountered coordinated traffic surges resembling Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks. On the first day alone, the portal reportedly received nearly 1.5 million hits within two minutes, while more than 100,000 unauthorised access attempts were detected and blocked.

A subsequent attack involved approximately 3.8 million malicious data packets aimed at disrupting the portal’s operations. However, CBSE’s security systems successfully mitigated the threat, ensuring uninterrupted access for students.

Enhanced Security Measures Prior to Launch

The re-evaluation portal was originally scheduled to launch on June 1 but was delayed by a day to allow for additional security strengthening measures. The Board undertook an emergency security hardening exercise amid concerns related to its new On-Screen Marking (OSM) system and broader cybersecurity issues. Officials maintained that these preventive measures played a crucial role in protecting the platform from attempted breaches.

CBSE also clarified that the actual OSM evaluation system used for marking answer sheets was never compromised, despite speculation circulating on social media. The Board emphasized that robust safeguards remain in place to protect student data and examination records.

Stable Operations Amid High Traffic and Threats

Despite handling thousands of concurrent users and facing repeated cyber threats, the portal continued to function throughout the application period. CBSE stated that its technical teams monitored performance around the clock and introduced refinements to ensure a smooth user experience. The Board said the successful operation of the portal demonstrates the resilience of its digital infrastructure and its commitment to maintaining transparency in the post-result review process.

With the application window remaining open until June 6, CBSE has urged students to complete their submissions within the prescribed deadline.
